Wonder if anyone can help.
My front hub on my Kinesis crosslight wheels has some play. Bearing sound rough so I think that's the cause. Problem is I can't find anything on servicing them?
Anyone know any where with info. Main things are how do I remove the end caps and what size bearings do I need. End caps don't appear to be coming off with a pull but equally I can't see anything else that is holding them on. There are no spanner flats or obvious internal flats for an allen key.
Could measure the bearings if I get over the first hurdle?
I changed mine a while back, it is Alan keys into either end cap. These then screw off the axle.
Can't remember the bearing code but your see them on the sides of the ones in there. 3 bearings, 2 on disc side.
before committing do a close inspection around the spoke holes. I took mine for service and a number of the eyelets started to crack when they started to true it - on closer inspection a number were hairline cracked even before tensioning it back up.
defo not an allen key. It's round all the way through. I've emailed Kinesis to see what they say. Bit annoying there is no info available. Would put me off buying their stuff again. Servicing info is essential if you actually want to use things.
just been and checked mine and they are just push on, there's an O-ring in the adaptors that holds them in place.
It's possible different model years have a different hub, and Buzzlightyear seems pretty confident in the allen keys (which are how my Prime wheels work) but a bit of cloth and grip with some mole grips and pull.
Cheers, 2 years old so probably just corroded. I'll get the disc off later in the week and give them a bit more welly.
