Has anyone been trying to buy or sell used kids Isla Bikes, Frog bikes etc recently? What's the market like in your area?
I recently sold a 16" Frog in good condition and it finally went for £80 (~30% current RRP) and it took a while to sell. Had another larger 24" that I ended up giving to a relative as they seemed to be selling for even less. Looking at buying a used Isla Bike Beinn 20s and the moment and it looks like £150-250 depending on condition (30-50% current RRP) which is massive drop vs last year. There are good number available for sale locally when previously they would be snapped up.
Clearly there's a bit of a cost of living / post covid effect but interested in what's happening elsewhere. It's probably a good thing that decent used kids bikes are cheaper again but definitely shifts the equation when deciding whether a new one is good value. Might be a seasonal things as well, but I kind of assumed school holidays would be a popular time for outdoor toys.
Depends where you are I suspect, round s11 they are still going for a premium
Presume it’s like adult bikes ie. loads washing about from lockdown. Didn’t Isla have a sale for the first time ever recently?

not a sniff of interest in our frog 48 up for 165. bought a 52 during lockdown for 225.....

Strong isla s/h market hasn't been the case for years ime. Bought and sold a few cx in good condition around the £150-200 mark over the past 5 years, including one mint condition luath that no one wanted on ebay. Got it for £150 iirc.
The mtbs held value better.
I guess the market is strong in general bike terms - just that the big premium of recouping most of your money with a s/h sale is no longer a thing (if it ever was).
Had a Beinn 24 in the classifieds for an age. Now open to any offers.
30-50% current RRP
Depending on the ages that doesn't sound awful, I would expect 20%+ off something that has just been taken straight out of shop if on second hand market if it's now lost "first owner status". It's probably more of a a general correction to the over inflated second hand market than things now being cheap.
Got £74 for a 16” Carrera Cosmos the other week. I think I’d paid only a little more than that before Covid. The market for decent kids bikes is a lot wider now and most of the Isla/Frog strong used values were because they got ever more expensive new.
I’d always bought secondhand but for a 24” for the eldest I went new for the first time as the CRC Vitus offers were too good to ignore.
I'm looking for a 14 inch pedal bike at the moment and I'd say the general prices are still inflated when looking at Early Riders and Frog 40/43, etc, when I was shopping for 12 inch balance and pedal bikes a year ago they were in the £100-£175 range, people now selling at £200-£250.
What I have noticed is the condition look worse this year, lots of bikes which have obviosuly been left outside in the elements with rusted and corroded parts still asking top 2nd hand money!
I'm not seeing a shock in those prices for secondhand...that is what I'd expect them to sell for, are you saying you are thinking they should be going for more than that? Bikes sell for what people are willing to pay for them, the times of premium prices for second hand have gone as there are far more offerings around.
As above - 30-50% off for a second hand kids bike is exactly what they should be selling for if in decent nick, so it seems more like a correction than the market going bust.
More choice now maybe? Isla used to be the only game in town for decent lightweight childs bike, not so much now.
also been lots of good quality Forme kids bikes entering the market cheaply via auction after Moore & Large when pop.
friend of mine picked up a nice Cubly for £90, inc auction fees and shipping and know of other getting Forme for similar low prices
Still lots of Forme kids bikes for sale on there as well.. though no 20" wheels left now.

real shame for Forme as excellent little bikes.
recently sold quite a few kids bikes - from a bike borrow scheme as lost our storage space, market slow, even for well price good condition stuff.
Kids bikes are weird. They're popular as a gift, so demand for new bikes is gonna be "higher than it should be". They also might not get used much, so sellers think they should get most of their money back. And they're mostly very expensive for what they are - I've always been stunned that people pay £150+ for used kids bikes. I've never paid more than £50 off eBay or Gumtree, although admittedly I've had to so some light spannering...
December and easter are peak used kids bike selling times. Hold onto it until november and stick on ebay, find a box and offer delivery through parcelforce.
I've been on the hunt for a bike for my 11 year old. think i have one sorted. means the youngest gets his old bike, and therefore i have a orbea mx20 for sale. Had hoped to get about £150 for it, its a bit old and slightly battered. but works fine. is that too much?
I’ve got a green Frog 65 I think 7-10yo anyway boxed up I can let go for a decent offer. It was in the classifieds a while ago I’d be happy to reduce the price, it’s in my garage doing nothing.
don't look at the sale prices on islabike at the moment then... 66% off some models.

You're right! £500 for a Creig 26 https://www.islabikes.co.uk/collections/outlet/products/childrens-26-inch-mountain-bike-creig-26.
Not really sure but if you want to make money sell on ebay and actually post it.
Same goes for any bike.
Unless you live in a honeypot you're just screwing yourself over otherwise.
