Just got myself a croozer trailer, but not yet arrived, and wanting to know what the space is like for kids and helmets. I read somewhere that they can be uncomfortable for the children in some trailers as they catch on parts of the trailer. Anyone got any experience of this and can recommend a helmet for a 1yr old which tries to pull most things off his head.
Thanks.
Giro do one that's like a mini Xen, quite flat at the back so little overhang. Even though I wouldn't recomend a helmet in a trailer. They look uncomfortable. Our trailer rolled once & the kids were fine as the harness kept them in place, & if strapped in properly the trailer is like a big roll cage.
Have never put a helmet on my kids when riding in a trailer. Bad idea IMHO - it would put their head at a funny angle and strain their neck, without having any apparent benefit. Given a 5 point harness holding them in place within the trailer and a roll cage, the impact would have to be pretty major for them to hit their head - at which point the helmet is unlikely to help much. Like takisawa I've rolled our trailer, and no harm done.
Wait until you get it. In our Burly Bee she sits with her head back against the seat so any helmet would simply make her uncomfortable. Stick yours in when you get it and then put something behind their head and see how it looks. As for protection, the trailer seems to have that covered.
