Any recommendations for a decently vented, light kids helmet with good coverage? 7yo was baking in his
skate lid yesterday so I'm looking for something a bit more airy. Giro tremor looks ok, also Bell sidetrack - anything else to consider? Cheers

Bell sidetrack is very good my middle kid who's 6 has also crash tested his several times.

Good prices here (got my nephew one from this site)

With kids helmets, fit is even more critical than for adults, so a trip to a decent bike shop to try on a selection is the best way to get one that will fit properly and therefore offer decent protection in a crash. The number of kids we see turning up to coaching sessions with lids that don’t fit in the first place, or, as is commonly the case, aren’t adjusted properly is quite alarming 😐

Schwinn 5+ helmet is great (from Evans) they do an 8+ version too. Unsure if the numbers are age related, but out 4yo has the 5+ and it fits him in the middle of the adjustment range. So would have thought the 8+ would be spot on for a 7yo.

They were really cheap on offer so I bought both sizes for when he grows out of the 5+

He wore it all day yesterday pretty much on and off the bike as it doesn’t bother him at all. It so well vented.

The lazer nutz is working well for our 3.5 yr old. Loads of size adjustment too, it has auto adjust which seems to work well

Just got a tremor for my 8yr old girl. It’s nice - I’m quite jealous!

My youngest (now 9) has had a Bell Sidetrack for a bit and it seems to have served him well.  He had a different Bell before it too which as fine but a bit more "xc".

My eldest had a couple of Giro xc helmets (I forget the model but it's no longer on the Giro website so i guess it's not longer made) and now has a Giro Chronicle in XS.

The Chronicle is a very good helmet (I have one too) but not the coolest as it's not massively vented.

Giro also do a cheaper kids trail helmet called the Tremor which looks good too.

Wee man is 7 and I've just got him a MIPS Lazer Coyote, huge step up from what he had before, ace lid and one of the cheaper MIPS options out there.

Thanks for the recommendations folks. I'll look at those and see what my not-very local (or good) LBSs have in.

I have a MET Crackerjack in Orange you can have for postage.

Good nick, in the box. Handy as it has a little led light in the dial cradle adjuster wheel thingy.

Let me know.

My lad has the giro tremor now (12yo) and it is a very nice little helmet.

My son had a Sidetrack, which was pretty good, especially as it looked very similar to my helmet, and so helped getting him to wear it...

He's now 9 and has a Bell Oran... slightly more xc oriented but a pretty decent helmet with reasonable ventilation band won't break the bank.
