Hello. Am thinking of getting a kids shotgun seat but am worried about having enough space to fit my kid and my knees in the frame. The last time we tried a front-mounted seat (a weeride) I had to pedal very knees-out. Fine for a wee trip to the shop but useless if we want to go further.
Anyone have any experience of putting the seat on smaller bikes? Is there space to pedal?
How old is the nipper it’s meant for? How much space under the stem?
Thule Ridealong type seem good and make the most use of space, especially compared to a wee ride. Don’t cope with such big kids though.
Although to to honest I just used our wee ride and coped! Not ideal, but a fabulous product nonetheless
Better than a WeeRide for sure. As you move the seat forward your problem is the potential interface between the kids feet and the front wheel. I've never had to investigate really as i'm putting it on an XL frame, but if you are comfortable with a foot/wheel overlap, on the understanding that in real life you're probably not turning by more then 20 degrees or whatever, then that will help a lot.
Yup, better than a WeeRide as you're not having to get your knees around the seat. If on a smaller bike i'd assume the rider is also smaller? Can't see it being an issue (FWIW we swap our seat between a llooonnnggg Enduro bike, a fairly small trail bike and a tiny hardtail with no issue)
Thanks all. Suspect it will be fine. The boy is only 2 just now so should be ok
