Rather happy with this build. My daughter is moving up to U14 for XC racing this year (which means adult course!) and her previous Vitus nucleus 26 was looking rather small. She also loves proper mountain riding so I had a bit of a job to find something that could be built light enough for XC racing but also tough enough to take to the hills. A Specialized Chisel HT was the stand out choice though it took 6 months of searching to find one in the elusive small size and version 2 frame which takes the 30.9 post (after which 3 appeared in quick succession). This frame came up locally as a complete bike, not ideal as I've change most of it but with supply tight it was the only real option.
Full Spec;
21 Chisel HT frame size S with Reba 100mm (new take off, these are within 100g of a set of SID SL and can have the SID damper retrofitted)
DT Swiss 350s laced onto the stock Stout SL rims with Sapim D-lights (1570g!). The stock rims are nice and light but the oem hubs were pigs, this rear hub was an extra special win as it was listed for £15 missing just the ratchets! Absolute Bargain. Shod with 2.25" Vittoria Barzos.
SLX cranks, shifter, Mech and chain. Deore Cassette and brakes, 160mm rotors.
Superlight progress pg-230 carbon flat bar, Brand x kids dropper, Hup XC saddle, specialized stem, esi grips, small Crank Brothers stamp flats (or Shimano XC SPDs).
All in a respectable 10.6kg (including pedals :P) despite the more robust gearing component choices. Daughter was very happy when it appeared last night, hoping to get it out for a maiden voyage this week once I've applied protection tape and sort the control positions.

Really nice. Bet she loves that!
Lovely radiator too and excellent oak panelling. Your lawn needs work though.
Looks awesome - and kudos for getting her a dropper.
Impressive weight, particularly if it's a 29er (looks like one?)

Yes, yes it does, so does the oak panelling in places (handily hidden by the bike) :D.

Yeap its a 29er. Sub 10kg would I think be achievable if you went to town with XTR and a charger race day damper but honestly not going to be worth it. The current build wasn't cheap (but also not crazy), is substantially less then anything off the self with a far inferior spec and should hopefully be more robust.
Lovely bike!
I've got a Chisel Comp, bought as a complete bike for about 50% off in a sale last year. It's obvious that the frame can build up to a super light XC build but in it's "full bike" guise it's definitely been built to a price point rather than a weight point!
Best of luck to her in her races!
Thanks! They are rather nice, I love just how well thought out the frames features are. I missed the 50% frames unfortunately. The stock build is odd, the rims and stem are a decent weight, but then stupidly heavy hubs, cranks, seat post and bars. All easy enough to change thankfully.
