Ive got my 8 year old son a ridgeback MX24 for his xmas and he Informs me he would like a full face helmet and some new pads. I think he will probably feel to hot riding his bike at Glentress with a full face but If it saves his teeth Im all for It.
Any suggestions on a cheapish full face lid and some elbow and Knee protection. ?
you can make him wear warm clothes

I've got 661 Evo kids sized pads, but I can't recall where I got it from - not Wiggle or Chain Reaction. Very good/comfortable but not cheap.
most wee full facers are pretty crap TBH unless you go the moto route, then they're very well made but quite heavy, very hot and total overkill.
What size is his heed?
try MX1 for kids pads

My son has a bell bellistic (he is 10), great light helmet and not expensive. Lovely fit and comes up very small! Great for kids/juniors eventhough it is not a junior specific helmet.
I think bell have replaced this helmet with the 'drop', not sure if it has the same great fit...maybe try and still get a bellistic?
For pads, try race face junior pads, really nice fit but not cheap.
Good luck

certainly loads more than any mountain bike shops in the UK.
Thanks for the advice folks , will have a wee look at the options. I know that he will basically end up using his BMX one once the weather gets better .
Only one small enough I could get my son at the time was aa 661 MX lid.
And for pads we bought a pair of MX trousers (cw pads) from CRC.
Also got him a pressure type body armour from an MX place.
And it has saved him from injury over a fair number of spills.
Hot though, often I ended up carrying the helmet when we climbed.
