My daughter has learnt to ride her 'big girl' 16" wheeled bike this summer.... So proud (not sure I'm ok saying this, but maybe more proud than her first steps).
Anyway, she's only 3.5 but she is tall and at the rate she grows I'll be looking to get her a new bike in a year or so.
But what wheel size, she is already tall enough (according to islabike) for their 20" bikes. But is it worth going 20" then 24", or just skipping to 24"?
I realise this is a while away, but you can never start planning and collecting bits too early.

You'll need to try her on bikes when she is ready for a new one. She needs to be able to ride it comfortably and safely. If it's too big there is every chance it'll put her off. Kids vary so much in height, confidence & ability that it's almost impossible to judge without seeing them on a bike.
If you like Islabikes buy a 2nd hand 20" and then sell it when she definitely outgrows that sell it on for near as dammit the same amount you paid for it. I've made a "profit" (*) on all the Islabikes I've bought so far so there's definitely something in it.
Life's too short and kids bikes are too good these days for "he/she will grow into it" especially when it's cost (if not hassle) free.
* I don't remember how much I've paid for them but it feels like I sold them for more.
