Just picked up an Islabikes Cnoc 16 for my daughter. It’s a few years old and some bits are well scuffed. I know I could replace eg brake levers with the same from Isla, but wondered about stuff like pedals, grips - is there anywhere you can get colourful half decent options for both to fit a small kid? Took the decent grips off her old frog but the Isla bar is too thin.

I think my kids got Spank Spoon grips to freshen up their latest bikes.

Sram racing grips fit islabike bars and are thin.

What about saddles ?

Need to replace the saddle. On the trailer bike cause it's shite. We have been using the one from her beinn 20 but since her birthday was Thursday I had to put that back....

Struggling to find a decent saddle in toddler size.

SDG slater contact points on one bike here, and nukeproof urchin on another but actually the Isla stuff is pretty good for the smaller kids and have swapped various Isla bits around between bikes.

For a kids saddle I fitted this one from Halfords on a CNOC 16, lighter than the original:

Hate to say it but Amazon is the place for cheap kids bike pedals.

We found the Superstar foam grips were comfy at 20" wheel time and were available in loads of colours. The squish compensated for the slight bulk.

There are some tiny ladies/girls specific saddles around, ours came from WTB. My six year old complained about the pain from a standard saddle on an islabike and has been much happier on a saddle with the proper shape.

makes me wince thinking back to those square plastic lumps we put up with as kids in the 80s. 😵

Frog bikes have a great, reasonably priced spares section on their website. We've had cranks, a seat & a few other bits for our (non-frog) kids custom build.

SDG slater looks like just the thing for grips, they’re a bit longer than the Isla ones but cheap enough to give them a try. Most other brands are designed for slightly thicker (22.2mm?) bars. SDG also do slater pedals but not sure if the platform might be a bit big. They’re also 3x more expensive than my Nukeproof pedals at nearly £50!

I thought the saddle looked alright but good to know there’s an option from Halfords, ta.

I found for the majority of kids pedals they were actually too small.  Sophie has the SDG bar, grips and saddle.

I want some short reach 8 speed road shifters for my sons bike but kidsracing seem to the only place that have the microshift ones and they are nearly as much as the bike cost me...

I've picked up some frog bikes second hand and the grips are always awful, I replace with Nukeproof Urchin.

Good selection of pedals,we went with the KC-008 for her 20", been brilliant:

https://gravitykids.wordpress.com/2015/07/29/pedals-for-kids-options/

Aliexpress is really the go-to for most cheap generic parts, cheaper than Amazon and the same stuff. A lot of pedals you just cannot get here.

For UK suppliers:

Source BMX for Jet square taper cranks and BB's (130-150mm IIRC)
Frog for misc items
Westbrook Cycles for 140mm Scott Prowheel 24mm crankset (80 quid so a bit dearer than the Jets but look good and may fit existing parts)
Kids Racing do Hup cranks which are seemingly the same as the cheaper Jet option, they do a lot more besides, more CX based but depending on age probably fine.
CRC do a limited amount of the Nukeproof Urchin range.

My daughter have been smashing a pair of these around for the last 2 years (they’re nearly 5 now) without any pedal/shin interactions. The platform is pretty small, they’re cheap and are much more grippy than the Frog, Isla and Early Rider pedals that came on her and her brother’s bikes.
Forward Affix Jnr pedals

Saying that, she really wants a pair of purple Urchin or Hope(!!) pedals now.

We had the KC-008 pedals that squirrelking mentioned, I just couldn't remember or find the link☺. They were a bargain for proper wee pedals with decent bearings.

They were great on 16" then 20" wheel bikes as bigger pedals grounded easily off road. On a 24", we went to bigger pedals (& had bigger feet).

Bought my 10 year old son the Nukeproof kids pedals, they're very pricey but bombproof and will be going on ebay in a couple of years.
