youngest is expecting a new bike for Xmas as his older brother got a nice vitus24 when he was 8. problem is they now only do a version with solid forks / big wheels.
he wants front forks and ideally disc brakes....if not he will be moaning how his brother has a better bike.
ideally proper mtb geo as it will be used on trails and at the jump park.
suggestions? budget, not crazy money but sensibly expecting it to be the wrong side of 500 new. not adverse to second hand if anyone has seen non knackered bikes about especially if it's a higher end vitus 24.....
My son had a (second hand but looked new) Orbea MX24. Got the rigid one, some older 26" Revs and reduced then to about 80mm travel, fitted some cable discs. It was great. Properly great bike and ignited a lone of riding in him. Pretty sure you can buy one with all those bits already done.
I think you're localish to me and I've got two in the shed (I'll ping you a PM with where I am and see if I'm right), a combination of parts from both previously made a very nice trail bike.
One is a Voodoo Bakkaa the other a Vitus. We ran the Voodoo fork on the Vitus frame for my youngest and it worked really well. I think we might also have a wide range cassette set up that would fit. Â
I'd be quite happy to consider a shed rummage and some moving round between bikes for a fellow STW'r where it's going to see decent use. Â
