I need some sort of stand to be able to hold up the mtb whilst I secure the kids in the chariot / weehoo, nearly put a dent in the car this weekend when the usual trick of leaning the bike against a wall didn't work

Ideally something that is either quick release or minimal faff to remove when not towing.  Ideally keeps the bike up right rather than leans to one side

Any recommendations?

Something like this?  https://www.rosebikes.com/hebie-605-two-legged-stand-51461

I had a similar one from rose, it worked great.

There are a few here  https://www.rosebikes.com/bike-parts/bike-stands-and-bike-racks/frame-mount

def get a double stand if you can, no single sided stand will be stable enough.

What about a paddock stand you can use on the drive? could make something suitable out of wood to hold the bike upright.

The stands linked are the sort of thing but i cant see how they fix / whether they are easy to remove.

We've got an axle stand which kind of works at home but when you are at the park trying to manhandle a toddler into a chair you really need something better than proping the bike up against the fence!

what are they called on uk sites havent found anything on merlin or wiggle searching for 'kickstand' or 'stand'

Two legged stand difficult to remove? You need a new 'riding with the kids' bike it can be permanently attached to 🙂

Esge double leg stand. Nothing comes close. Measure legs three times before cutting. It’s held up my kiddyback tandem for years. With keen stoker and tag along attached! there is nothing better.

you don’t remove them. Once you’ve had one, you’ll wish all bikes came with stands.

brand is now Pletcher.

Not a recommendation as such, but have a look at cargo bike specialists as a starting point as there is quite a wide choice.  One of the few letdowns for me on the Kona Ute was the provision of only a single kickstand, I was loking at adding a Hebie heavy duty one instead as it seemed to review well.

Here's a few

Pleatscher is the stand to have.

Can't work out why you'd be removing it though. It just sits there unobtrusive like.

Copes with a 50/60 lb touring bike with 4 panniers no worries

Put one of these on my commuter and my wife's "basket bike"

https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-maintenance/bike-storage-solutions/halfords-centre-bike-stand

Seem to be good so far. One minor thing is that they bolt that attaches them seems to come loose over time but a drop of loctite sorts that.

Rolling jackass kickstand. Cheap it isn't be sturdy it is.

Or get a bike for kid hauling. I've gone this route with a bug dummy.

Haha 300dollar stand for your 2000 dollar bike

(Also the owner of a longtail cargo bike and refusing to spend 300 dollars on a rollling Jackass)

Use a Velcro strap to secure your rear brake on. Then leaning your bike is much safer. I did this with my double trailer and still use one on my commuter for when I do a big shopping run and am loading up the rack

i was looking for a prop stand to lean it against (like a fishing pole rest) but never bothered in the end

Thanks for the suggestions I'll take a look.

reason I want to remove is it's on a half decent mtb my old xc race bike and I still use it off road.  I actually have a junker for the kids but have found the weehoo hitch does not fit at the same time as a weeride toptube beam.  and that is a faff to remove.

not sure I can justify 2 bikes for towing kids....and I'm saving for a decent replacement for the roadie.

I had a two legged stand that bolts on for the tandem ( it didn't meet my needs)  What scared me was how tight the clamp needed to be and the risk of crushing tubes where it bolted on behind the BB
