Evening all, I'm looking for a bit of advice from any lakes locals on a afternoon ride around Keswick. Its been a while since I've ridden round this area, so I might be out of touch with what's good to ride these days.
Im after a ride that's around 4 hours for reasonably fit riders who like technical up and downs, the 3 options I've come up with are
1) Borrowdale Bash
2) Helvellyn from patterdale coming down dolly waggon
3) skiddaw loop and summit
( http://flattyres-mtb.co.uk/route-guides/lake-district-mtb-routes/skiddaw-circuit-and-summit/)
I quite fancy skiddaw as I've never done it before, so this is probably my favourite option, but is it any good compared to the other two.
Cheers
Bash with all the extras is a classic, dolly waggon is an acquired taste, skiidaw via bws is a bit speed tuck,
Does this route include the extras you mentioned Mike ?

All bar the last cheeky bit that you probably should avoid in summer
yeah do Skiddaw, Helvellyn I've done twice and it's a meh, push your bike a lot whereas the BB hardly no pushing and Skiddaw will lots of riding round the back and then lots of pushing up the front. IIWY I'd do Skiddaw.
Cheers for the advice chaps
Surprised at what Jekyll said. In my experience the ride up helvelyn from the north is excellent. Nearly all rideable and reasonably varied, whereas skiddaw ascent was mainly a push up and a full brakefest down
Hmmmm
****ing autocorrect
Dull brakefest down
