I came across this old Bob Jackson that belongs to an elderly customer of mine. It was in a dreadful state after being fully serviced by a mobile bike repair company.
Luckily I still have all my old tools, been a while since I worked on nuts and bolts, but I offered to put it right for him as long as he never used that company again.
The headset was very very loose, sorted that.
Both brakes were misaligned and had the shoes on the wrong way round, sorted that.
Rear wheel was buckled, sorted.
Bars were pointing skyward and the levers pointing down, sorted.
Front mech was made to fit by wrapping the frame in tape, so it moved if you tried to change rings. Put proper metal shims in, sorted.
Straightened the mudguards.
Pumped up the tyres to 100psi from 30psi.
Changed the 52/42 for a compact.
Finally re-wrapped the bars old style middle to ends.
No charge.
Shame he is only 5'7" and the bikes 23 1/2"
