Morning All,

Looking to get one of the above to use with a 70mm 0° rise Thomson X4 stem. Just wondering if anyone has experienced any clearance issues with the fixed position mount to save me the potential faff of sending it back.

TIA 🙂

I use the Nukeproof one and have no issues.

Only time I think you’d have an issue would be if a short stem had a lot of rise.

Might be tight. I had to use the adjustable version with a hinge on a 50mm Thomson stem or have a 10mm spacer on top of the stem before the mount.

Didn't have room for that so got the adjustable one.

I’ve got the adjustable one, needed to adjust when I moved it between bikes.

Sorry, I meant the one with the more forward position like THIS rather than the one directly on top of the stem. I may have answered my own question having looked at the review on Wiggle but if anyone can confirm or deny that would be great.

I have an 80mm Thomson stem with the K Edge stem mount.  It will not fit directly on top of stem. I need a spacer or two under the mount.

A 70mm stem? Are you from the year 2008?

@davehastings can you confirm if yours is the top cap mount or this one please (which is the one I'm looking at getting)?

It shirley depends how many spacers you run above the stem.

There is only one 5mm spacer on top of the stem, which is only there as I haven't cut the steerer down, so the mount would replace that.

@stayhigh I have the same one as your picture. Need 1 5mm (I think) spacer underneath so that the front of the mount clears the bulge for the handlebar clamp.

I've got one of those K Edge mounts with a 50mm Thompson stem. It needs one standard spacer underneath it

I have one with a 40mm gamut stem and it just touches the top of the stem with a 5mm spacer under it.
Tried it on the gravel bike which has a 90m. 5° rise stem and couldn't get it to work without about 10mm of spacers. So bought a cheap.china.Ebay copy of the adjustable version.

So looks like going down the adjustable route might be in order than.

@monkeybojc any issues with your copy?

I bought an adjustable one from ali express version, removed the plastic insert and then ground the circle frame away, all you need to hold the plastic insert on is the spine down the middle.

Allows the mount to sit a lot deeper on the stem as it is not so wide. Very easy and if it doesnt work the mount has only cost £3 as well. Just depends if you have the patience to wait 6 weeks for delivery!!!

I recently installed the fixed stem top mount on an all city space horse with a 90mm stem, no issues on fit, if you're putting it on a 0 deg stem you will have zero issues. it's 50mm long, so it will clear your stem bolts.
