Couldn't believe my eyes. Has anyone tried one of these and not felt like a complete d**k?
Have one, look like a dick, still good fun though.
I did a charity Manchester to London, 250 miles in a day road ride in June and some guy did the full 250 miles on one despite confessing he had never "pedalled" it up a hill before, he looked absolutely brokern at the end but he got the biggest cheer on finishing
Saw a guy doing the london edinburgh london on one.
saw a few in california last month, including one near the top of a 5 mile road climb (not super-steep, but enough)
I MUST HAVE ONE!
A guy was out on our local community bike ride a while ago on one.
It is the niche to end all niches.
mrs toast do you mean one of these
or one of these?
There were 3 of them started the LEL. I think 2 of them finished it too. they avereged something like 13mph, and basically didn't stop.
Not your avergae touring bike:

If you put a saddle on it, & perhaps some kind of rotating device below the saddle that you could turn using something like pedals, & then connect the roating device to the rear weel to add drive, just thinking out aloud here, but I think a chain would be good for this.
Then it would probably be OK.
The first one, Kimbers! My knees are knackered so I can't run, so it'd be nice to have some other form of exercise other than biking! 😛
Plus, it's nichetacular! I'm too short to really get into 29ers, the aforementioned knackered knees rule out singlespeeding (and fully rigids), and I'm too cheap to invest in 650b as it's not really much different from 26".
We have one here in the office and I have used it. It's pretty hard work - respect to anyone who can do long distance rides with it.
The ElliptiGO is aimed at runners, allowing them to train for longer, without the impact damage on their joints (knees & Hips). They're not really intended as a bike alternative - though for those cyclists with knee issues or who find cycling uncomfortable, they can be a useful alternative.
What they can offer is give a very intensive workout - so they are a good cross trainer, and will be suitable for cyclists who want to increase their fitness.
For short commutes, they would be good - the 'standing' position gives excellent visibilty for and of you - but for longer distance commutes, you'll need a shower at work!
I will be attempting the Manchester 100 on mine next weekend.
