Hi guys, new member by the way just registered. Looks like a tidy forum though not used any for 15 years or more.

I was bored so ended up looking at bikes I don't need online as was thinking about going to order a bossnut anyway as first FS MTB to compliment the 1 year old £300 GT hardtails me and the lad have.

But instead I ordered 2 of these...

https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Cube-Stereo-140-HPC-SL-27-5-Mountain-Bike-2018-Trail-Full-Suspension-MTB_113114.htm

£3700 on bikes is a lot for me so I'd really appreciate any feedback on these bikes as they look reasonably specd and frame looks lovely. Sizes we checked and the 18's look good for us.

Riding we do pair of us is typical Sherwood pines red route stuff and soon heading up the Leeds urban bike park to give that a whack.

Cheers, Dan

Couple of my riding buddies have Cubes and like them well enough, nice that you managed to avoid some of their more challenging colour schemes. A carbon full sus'er and fox 34's for the price of a half decent hardtail seems like a huge bargain to me.

good quality bikes, from experience check the tiny screw holding the rear mech hanger/bolt through on. they tend to come loose and disappear. this is fine until you remove the rear wheel and the hanger drops off. all sorted with a bit of thread lock though. also check the brakes have been swapped to UK spec, all cubes come continental style. tredz should sort this on the pre delivery inspection though. ride wise the are a great XC machine. cube sizing is a little different to other manufacturers so you usually size up.

Thanks mate yeah good point, me and my lad bought some cheap mtb's from decathlon in Mallorca and attempting a skid his new bike went straight over the handlebars and nutted the car door 😆👍👍

Nice looking bike. I've never owned a cube but plan on getting an e-version of that or it's slightly bigger brother when l'm able to ride again in a few months time and if all goes well switching to a regular stereo 140 towards the back end of the year once I'm able to ride under my own steam again. At least that's my current plan.

Nice bike. You should always buy on a whim, preferably online when you're drunk so it's a total surprise when the package gets delivered.

Welcome OP, enjoy the bikes they look good but think I'd have asked on here for recommendations before chucking 3.7k on a "punt" 😉
Good luck.

Looks a great deal - carbon frame / Fox 34’s and Xt for that price is excellent value.

Only thing for me is it looks like it has a double / front mech which is a bit random. I think I’d be tempted to replace with 1x before using it and sell the double / front mech / front shifter / smaller cassette as new on eBay. But equally you may be perfectly happy with the range on the double in which case just crack on enjoying it!

Thanks for the replies guys

Yeah for me splashing 3.7k was very, very random (I'm 46 and still wear brothers hand me downs, I'm that tight) deffo would've asked your lots advice prior had I known about this place 😀

I asked me mate he said buy it, he says that about every bike I send him though.

for the 2*11. Mate above has just gone 1x11 and it's a real option for me to do the same as the crankset is the same I just replace with a 32 wide up front and 11/46 at rear I think. I like the idea of that. Will clear the cockpit up and I hate front mechs (and rear ones)

The bits coming off could go on the GT too.

The brake specs state 180/180 whereas some specs state 180/203 so if it isn't 203 up front then that's an easy upgrade.

Spending money on it already 😮

I had an ally Stereo 140, it was really good fun. I used it for all sorts- pottering about to the shops, trail centres and a DH race last year. Probs the best FS I've had and I'd have another one.

I ordered my bargain full sus carbon job from Tredz too (was a very similar price). They're ok, despite the slagging they get. Bikes are delivered almost ready to ride in HUGE boxes, so be ready 😀

To be fair, the Budgie is a fine bike and good ones are hard to find. Your new bike looks superb too.
