As title just met my first forum person, Pop Larkin.
Totally nice bloke and the bike I've bought off of him looks to be in very good condition too.
Just thought I'd mention it.
Cheers.
Steve.
I sold him a Spearfish once I think.
You do realise most of the forum is populated by a dozen people under different names...
Ermm, pretty sure I met you in the mess in akrotiri,
aye, I sold myself a bike once
Well, I say bike, it was a total piece of shit and I bummed my own dog in revenge
Doh forgot about that stu
I bought a Spearfish off him once
My daughter's pink Ridgeback previously belonged to theotherjonv's daughter. There was a dodgy exchange of bike for cash in Trowell services one dark winter night....
Pfft - I think we've all met Pop haven't we?
I think it was a Specialized Tricross I bought off him a few years back.
are you sure it was his bike, people on here dont ride bikes, they dont even talk about them much,
I once knew a bloke, who knew another bloke, that rode SS'ers, who over took a bloke on another SS'er, who then proceeded to strip off his jersey whilst riding along a trail, who then over the bar'ed whilst holding on with one hand sticking his tongue out.
Cool eh.
Hes an handsome ****er
the bike I've bought off of him looks to be in very good condition too.
Wrong size, though.
I bought a 29er of him three years ago...Still got it!
Top man!
🙄
I once met Ringo's dog.
aye, I sold myself a bike onceWell, I say bike, it was a total piece of shit and I bummed my own dog in revenge
This made me laugh more than it should've
Just met my first forum dweller !!
Have you washed?
I've met forum members, but they don't know it.
I once saw singlespeedstu drink a litre of vodka with an hour 😀
I live next door to one.
😯
I'm in a live in relationship with one 😯
Most of the people I know I met through here.
Tom, it's your turn to put the bins out.
you mean you lot are real!?
i once sold someone off here a bike..... 😕
Jesus, wouldn't trust that pop fella, he's shonky as hell, and he doesn't like riding in mud, or tree roots, he's practically lance Armstrong he's so dodgy.
I've stacked logs for one.
Think I may of met trailrat in passing.
Possibly.
Singlespeed stu has seen more of me than most folks. Don't think he's ever recovered

Talking to your neighbours? That's not the STW way!
There are definitely more forumites know me than the other way around. I think working in The Bike Chain had something to do with that. I only met Trail Rat for the first time a few weeks ago which was a bit weird as it seems we've known each other much longer.
I assume there's a large group of folk round Hebden know each other. And the MNPR crowd?
I'm pretty sure there's at least three or four from my regular riding group on here but I have no idea at all who they are and none of them has called me out yet (too embarrassed to admit knowing me?).
I am 99% sure there is one user who I know through a university friend and have done quite a few weekends riding with in the past.
There are a couple of others from dates/random comments that I reckon I probably knew at Southampton uni a long long time ago.

😯
You've had dinner with DeadlyDarcy as well?
I've seen bits of tazzy that no man should ever have to see.
Even after drinking a liter of vodka in an hour I still can't get rid of the image.
Jeez- this post has made me realise how many bikes have been and gone in my time on here-how embarrassing !
Good to meet you Steve- I'm sure you will love the Horsethief
And taz- I will be out this weekend I promise!
You've had dinner with DeadlyDarcy as well?
😯 😆
Careless talk costs [s]lives[/s] reputation.
Still at least I know someone reads comments on here. I do wonder on some threads...
Not had a bad experience yet!
I've met all of you lot, it's just you don't realise it.
<that will get them guessing 😈 >

Are you the guy who dusts the spam bot servers?
Organise a forumite ride at Drumlanrig a while back. 8 or so of us all together, weird 😀
My girlfriend is still somewhat bemused that I bought her a second hand Prince Albert in a car park in Slough from a stranger off the internet. She only ever refers to it as The Prince.
I thought it was mandatory once someone knows you on STW to delete your account and create a new one under a new name?
For example [s]Goldigger[/s] Goldigger2 who would know? 😀

How long long time ago?
I was totting up how many forumite's I have met - at least 20 I could call by first name, and likely another 20 out on trails and got chatting kind of a way.
Scarily I have had three forumites walk or ride up to me and say 'are you matt_outandabout...?' on three different days. 😯
Two guys came up to me in a pub and said "hey, you're miketually!" Still no idea who they were, but assume they were from here.
I've met people on here before I was even on here, and not even through biking.
Have since met a few of the STW Bristol Chapter Massive on the regular rides.

No names, no pack drill. And I was camping nowhere near you lot when "it" happened
Unsurprisingly the STW (northern chapter) forum rides used to garner quite a few, I think 45 was the largest turnout (I wasn't on that one tho)
I think I did that to you at kielder100. I've also done that to a few local mtb bloggers out on the trails, I expect it can seem a bit creepy. Two guys came up to me in a pub and said "hey, you're miketually!"
'It' never happened. The police, the fire brigade, security, sexy in black. None of it ever really happened.
I must have dreamt about the one armed security hofficer..

Anyone pretending to be someone off of on of Singletrack is an imposter, a Walter Mitty.
45 for the largest turnout!! (Northern turnout)I think us Bristolians need to up our game as we've only managed 8 max.
though I prefer to think of it as quality over quantity.... 😯

Yes, but the bike you were meant to be buying alongside it was an Orange 5.

Now:
"Hey, are you matt_outandabout of 'EU Referendum thread on STW' fame?"
😉

Makes me feel old just thinking about that.
What's happened to deadly?
He's fine, just not on here.
Also, that wasn't me in Jesters. You never saw me.
I'm sure you've both ridden past me on the the Chase.
Just goes to prove what an utterly boring forgettable b'stard I am then Steve - RAF Benson riders day about 3 or 4 years ago 😉
Dickyboy.... I've not done a Benson day out yet mate !!
Must have been someone else I sold some slx cranks to and then met at Benson, I was on a motorbike day there and STW guy was on a green cotic, had in my mind it was you all this time 😳
Ah dickyboy yes that was me doh. I thought you meant a Benson MTB ride out mate.
Re Southampton uni
How long long time ago?
I was there from 95-98, had a nasty purple bike (on which I warrantied almost every single component before cracking the frame) followed by a much nicer cheaper blue GT that got rebuilt with all the parts from the previous bike that were quite nice. That gt's still in the family 20 years on.
I was there from 95-98,
Ah a youngster. 90-93 first year in Glen then salubrious St Mary's
Mr Pop is obviously having a proper clear out....
Im building the Segment up this weekend! Thanks again.
Two of the most spectacular and funny crashes I ever saw were on a STW ride near Pitlochry. Scotroutes disappeared completely into a ditch surrounded by Gorse. It seemed to defy all sorts of physics. A little while later Househusband came off at about 30mph cartwheeled and then did a perfect impression of a bouncing bomb. I've never been more sure we were going to have to call for a helicopter but he got up took some man up pills and kept going.

Indeed. Eldest_oab has agreed to buy pop's Orange Five too...
Up for sale already Renton! A record 8)
I've worked with one 🙂
Married to one + high fived another 😆
I've worked with one
I've slacked with one.

Good to finally meet you the other day Renton!
I know a few, though mostly I'd say my primary reason for knowing them is something other than STW. I went to university with Northwind, for example, and got back in touch with him after I had a letter published in WMB. I probably knew stevenmenmuir via Glentress Trailfairies before I realised he was on this forum too.
The main time I recall meeting "people from STW" was many years ago now when a bunch of then forum regulars including Jedi and mamadirt were on a trip to Glentress and I bumped into them there.
I think that I first met TJ and househusband on a ride I organised here. At one point on that ride househusband borrowed my Cotic Sould and liked it so much I was worried he was going to ride off with it! I think he ordered his own later that day...
