You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Heading down the hill from work, pulled over to the left to let a car come up and my front wheel was swallowed by a 2ft wide waterlogged pothole that I swear wasn't there this afternoon. I did an involuntary superman OTB and slid down the road for about 15 ft.
Knee, jeans and jacket all messed up but basically just a bad graze - reckon I got off lightly. If I'd pulled over a couple of seconds earlier I would have been under the wheels of the car coming up the hill in the opposite direction. 😯
Still feeling a bit shaky. May have to break my dry January!
Ooof!
Glad you're ok.
The pothole probably wasn't there earlier. They form incredibly quickly in this weather.
Photograph it report to council and claim from them for any damage to your bike and clothing. Not after you screwing them but when I had it happen to me it tacoed my front rim.
If it really wasn't there this morning, then there's no chance of a successful claim.
But report it to the council so that it gets fixed before someone else hits it.
report it on wwww.fillthathole.org, and also to the local council, then contact a cycling aid solicitor, plenty in bike mags, and wait
Make a claim for the damage, I did. It is a bit of a ball ache and they will refuse at the first stage but stick with it.
Just reported it on fillthathole.org
I wasn't considering putting in a claim - was just happy to walk away from it and wouldn't want anyone else to get hurt, but after adding up the damage I may consider it - new pair of jeans, damaged Howies jacket, bent brake lever, knackered saddle etc it's going to be a couple of hundred pounds worth all in.
