Abso****inlootleysweetas.

Well I got myself Magicshined up and headed off to my local ride at around 8pm.

Not a soul around around except me, pitch black in the woods, riding SS through singletrack so the only sound was my puffing, tyre noise, and the monster rustling in the bushes behind me 😯

Basically I'm now hooked, roll on winter!

Good isn't it? Even better if you can find some guys to do it with.

there's an extra buzz factor at night, TS wait till you get a pair of eyes glistening back at you through the trees 😯
Like realman says, get a few along and it gets even better

Solo Night riding is where its at IME.

Nice one Trent Steel. Sounds like my first solo night ride in Cannock but I have gears.

Actually rode the route faster in the dark, no excuse to stop and take in the view (when you actually want a breather).

I only made the point that I was SS as up until now I never noticed the complete lack of drivetrain rattle it was eerie.

TBH solo night riding is what I would prefer at the mo, yes I do miss not sharing the experience and having a laugh and a joke, but when I'm riding that about the only "me time" I get (pretty sad but true).

Welcome to the bretheren. Riding at night is ACE. Me and my mate were out on Darwen Moor on Wednesday night and we stopped and switched the lights off. It was like we were the last men alive... not a soul for miles.

Your local trails that you know like the back of your hand are all suddenly new again.

Good work fella. Solo night riding is ****ing ace. If a tad scary at times

Best eperiences: I had a big fox emerge out of the bushes right next to me, run alongside me for about 30 yards, then cut off into the bushes.

I once had a gert big owl swoop past me just over my shoulder. I felt the draft off its wings. I **** myself!!!

Can't wait until the next ride, I too had galloping horse noise (the park has wild ponies in it), didn't know if they were coming at me or running away.

Need to get a lid light now as only have bar mounted one which caused a couple of dicy turns.

The only problem I found was that its hard to tell muddy areas from hardpack and sprinting into 6 inches of gloopy mud in the dark isn't the best 😛

Night ride on a fixie is fun +1

No noise from the bike, little chance to predict the trail so need to react/cope, able to slow without brake squeal to watch the [strike]doggers[/strike] wildlife without disturbing them

Did night riding a bit last year but with a pretty weak light set up - Hope 1 and a Tesco Cree torch on the lid.

But this year using a really decent light, it's been superb fun - now a regular Thursday night "mission" with a mate of mine.

Love it - quiet, makes steep drops less "scary" and you see all sorts of wierd stuff!

I love night riding - but there are a LOT of monsters in those woods ... especially behind me 😯

I tend to cycle on flats at night as I kept falling off with SPDs - a complete lack of warning doesn't give me time to unclip.

Last winter I fell off x3 in about 20 meters (front wheel down a rut mainly) & decided that flats were the way to go at night.
