You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Been practising hard all winter out in the mud and cold and wet, finally got myself psyched up to race the Pearce series then snapped my arm good and proper two weeks before first race.
Had to finally accept today that im not going to be back in time before the last one or two rounds at best then by when i'l have been off the bike for 4months so had to make the call and cancel.
First seasons racing over before it started.
Not liking 2010 so far 🙁
Not really a rant more just a whine at the world 🙁
Spend the refunded entry fees on something nice...
chin up.
and when your arm is better, ride for fun. 8)
Get on the turbo! Think of how much more you'll enjoy the last couple of rounds when you're less bothered about how you're going!
If I'd have known you wanted a hug earlier I'd have given you one 😀
And i stand by my offer of mincy jeycore ride + pub action when you're up to it
It'll have reduced your w**kin ability somewhat too
Although, if you have a numb arm & close your eyes, it'll feel like someone else doing it.
Depending on your imagination, that can be a good thing or a bad thing 🙂
Certainly know that feeling! If you find something that replaces biking let me know (there is some what of a void in my life without it!)
Shit happens.
But why 4 months?
That was 2009 for me. Injured my back just before Christmas 2008 finally went for a ride Good Friday 2009 and broke my ribs that same day. So nothing between December 08 and early July 09. Probably why I was nearly last in my first race of 2009 at Blenhiem Palace.
Nice one Houns, I think the xc bike is the only bike I have thats fully working mainly through lack of use to be fair.
Ive often considered a turbo trainer but i dont really have the space other than in my room, and i dont think my housemate in the room below would appreciate the noise, although i do have to put up with D&B being played at all hours to cover the sound of him F*cking his misses so maybe alls fair in love and war and mountain biking...
Fortunately its my left arm and if already mastered the art of making bacon sarnie with one hand so life isnt completely worthless - its just dry and bright out and i cant ride. Booo.
Drac i did this to it:- Arm Fail. metalwork then physio and recovery time means min 10-12weeks before i can do gentle XC and then doc reckons id be stupid to DH too soon. Says prob a year before full bone strength back.
The refunded entries have already been ear marked for one of these:

I know what you mean MTB is preety much my life. sound kind sad but thats how it is. I can't even hold an SLR at the moment so not even cut out for riding photography over the trails!
Boo to being broken!
one_happy_hippy
Was in the same place as you last year but snapped my achilles.... Before you know it you will back on the bike... as njee20 at least you can keep your legs turning on a turbo to keep fit?
Hope the arm gets better soon...
I was in the same place last year too - when i nearly broke my back and dislocated my hip, damaged my sciatic nerve and had a back spasm for 2 1/2 months.
or the year before that when i had to have a plate in my collarbone.
every bastard 12 months it seems!
Grumpy 🙁
ive been injured for 1 1/2 and counting mtfu
you do seem injury prone!
healing vibes and heal fast
Ive done the same right before my first race of the season. Well a dilocated AC Joint. I am on the turbo every day at the mo, its not too bad. Just watch alot of films.
Hope all heals fast and you do some good rides later on.
I'd not realised it's downhill!
What's wrong with doing the last few when you've been off for 4 months, it's not like you need to be all that fit!
I'm gutted for you chap, Matt told me on Wednesday night.
You are the most unlucky guy on a bike I know, will have to take you out on a nice gentle XC ride once you're up to it.
Will can confirm the easy pace and lack of techy stuff. 😉
And i stand by my offer of mincy jeycore ride + pub action when you're up to it
you've nevr offered me that
*cries into beer*

No its more having to go from not riding to hitting quite sizeable jumps and drops and im not sure how the wrist will cope with that.
Cheers Buck, though knowing that Will is quite fit I imagine my idea of gentle and yours maybe slightly different 🙂
