It will cost £110 for the dropout kit and axle!

That's madness!

assuming you are talking about a yeti sb66, there is a chap selling a chipset on pinkbike and ebay for about £50. make him an offer.

you can get a new shimano maxle here:-

http://www.evanscycles.com/products/shimano/slx-ax65-e-thru-142-x-12mm-rear-quick-release-axle-ec045809?country=GB&currency=GBP&utm_content=mkwid__pcrid_31998555896_kword__match__plid_&gclid=CPbUh6iX1rwCFesJwwod5ykANA

there you... pretty much halved that cost for you... 😉

Campfreddie you my friend are a star.

I looked on eBay and haven't been able to get on pinkbike all day.

And yep after today's test ride I've gone with the sb66.

I think he might have sold it now though... Best to send him a message to find out.

Good luck.

Chuck up a wanted ad on here. I'm pretty sure it's the same chipset as fitted to the 575 and ASR5, so there should be loads in circulation.

If you think that is criminal, just wait till you realise that you need to buy one of these if you are going 1x10 (well you don't strictly need it, but it makes the frame look much better).

How much benefit is there running 12x142 over a 10x135 qr?

Ha ha ha no option for 1x10 with my fitness. I'd just stick a black frame protector over it or some sugru.

I've had 142x12 on the last bike and thought it felt much better.

If I can get a set cheap then great. If not I'll run QR.

Appalling isn't it for a 2 grand frame, glad I got mine thrown in which it damn well should be anyway.

I can't find the kit for less than £50 and a cheaper heavier axle for £25

I simply refuse to pay that after forking out for the frame.

I've got a brand new Shimano axle for the SB66, 142x12.

£20 posted if anyone wants it? Then it's just a case of being buttf*cked by Silverfish for the chip sets.

Oh, and the bearing kits every few months!

Think the bearing issues were sorted after the 2012 frame.

Think yourself lucky it's not an intense tbh! I came this close to buying a 150mm slopestyle to convert to 135, would have had to sell my bum down the docks to pay for the dropouts.

On the other hand, I have a 2012 frame. It's done weeks in Italy and france, 2 wales/Northern long weekend roadtrips, a series of the UKGE, and plenty of local riding at Aston Hill etc.

I've dunked in in rivers, marinated it in Innerleithen's finest muck at the enduro there last year, (where on one stage the rear wheel almost stopped turning due to mud build-up) and I've even given it a couple of gentle jet washes when the clag has got too much.

So far i have had to replace one DU bushing on the shock, and nothing else. 😀

And despite Yeti's imaginative pricing for the chipset, etc- it is a Super Bike... I'd definitely get the 12x142 kit, but i would go into debt over it- you'll enjoy the refinement all the more when you do!
