My boy wants more races, he's more enduro than xc, but we're happy with either.
Gorrick will happen assuming the series goes ahead. But what else is there? Ideally in the south of UK.

Are there any mountain bike oriented Go Ride clubs in your area?

I know they'll likely be XC based, but could be a good place to find out about other races etc...

Nothing close. We did one at QECP but that was Saturday which rarely works for us and 75 min. The FOD club seems ace, but again 90 mins away too.

We don't really have a close trail center, Swinley is closest at 45 min away.

Might be a bit far but PMBA at Grizedale in a couple of weeks time. They are really geared up getting youngsters into it

On the BC site they have some Go Ride XC races in Cheam, and also something in Woking in December... no idea what they will be like though...

Also, are you aware of the Mojo kids races? We've done a couple and they have been ace...

There are some kids enduro races in the Forest of Dean too...

Flyup 417 in Gloucester have some kids races too... not sure when they are though.

Unfortunately most of those aren't in the South though...

Keep an eye out on the facebook page for people cancelling the week before. Usually a few places up for grabs

I can recommend Pedalhounds. Grass roots enduro. Don't know the age of your lad, but lowest category is 12-14.

Plenty of Gorrick stuff through the year, though for some reason the enduro stuff got dropped.

There's Swinduro with kids events, but main one has gone by already. Was supposed to be an xc as well but that's been dropped this year due to low numbers.

We'd entered Swinduro XC yeah. But never entered the enduro, maybe we should have.

He's only just turned 11.

The little fodders races are great, but not very often.

As far as I know all the Southern Enduro races now have a U14 category... and they get to race the same stages as everyone else. Even the QECP Day and Night Enduro had juniors racing the full course - in the dark!

Not sure if either of us are up to the skills of Southern Enduro, i have the perception they're techincally tough... Happy to be proven wrong though 🙂

From experience with my 10 year old in the South:
Pedalhounds, good format for kids as not that technical and also a mashup format (no practice before race, just multiple timed runs)
Southern Enduro, my son loves (did Milland yesterday), more technical which is why he likes them i think. think there were 15 kids in U14 yesterday. Also casual enough that they are fine with me starting with him (rather than with the rest of vets) so that I can come down each stage behind him (rarely a chance of me catching him now with a 30s gap)
Last one which is great is the mojo youth duo series, you ride each stage together and the timing is first in and last out of each stage. Great fun. Last one of the year is FoD on 13th Oct https://www.mojo.co.uk/mojo-racing-4-c.asp

Thank you for your payment

Well that's that then 🙂

In all honesty there couldn't be a better suited race for us two. We love riding together, love some Forest of Dean and love trying a bit. Very much looking forward to this now 🙂

Absolutely no idea what courses/runs they'll be using.... but i guess we'll soon find out 😀

Mojo Duo series seconded.

We did the 1st 2 rounds and they were great fun.

We (me and just turned 10 yr old) did the BPW round, it was great - the other two clashed with BMX racing but we're in for FoD in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately he's hardly ridden his mtb all summer!

He was 9 at the last one, but this time is 10 so will have to race in the 10-12s - that could be interesting for him.

See you there in that Cat then mate.

We'll be in matching red DH jerseys and on an Orange T130 and Liv Embolden in blue/black. Say hello 🙂

Will do - I'll probably be on my AM9, he'll be on a marin hawkhill (and probably in a red bristol BMX or green SW regional BMX kit)

ive been looking at this too, but it seems the South East is rubbish for any kind of events that aren't road (plenty of those).. My 10 year old daughter and probably more 7 year old son as well, are getting more and more into riding and want to try an event.. Is there a central place that lists, or are we still looking at a dozen different websites - is there anything that STW can do to have an area that joins them up??

Sui - no central list, but look at Southern XC, Gorricks and maybe the MSG Eastern XC (depends where you are) for xc and see pobaker's stuff for enduro. I think it's a pretty good area for events really as we aren't far from lots of xc, enduro and even DH.

weeksy - worth following the mojo racing facebook page, tends to get updated more than the website:

Reasons you mention are why we also love the format!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Without getting into too much detail, my lad has fractured a bone in his hand and is out of action. 3-4 weeks recovery according to x-ray and docs this morning. That means we're out 🙁

I've asked about a refund/cancellation, but totally understand if it's not viable for them.

Pippingford is a good race for Juniors to start with.

We'd likely go QECP as he knows a few of the tracks... When are they on sale ? Can i ride ahead/behind ? Not together as such required, but rider ahead or behind him would be good.

2 mouths before each race for the 3 races at QECP.
or you can buy a full series ticket on 1st Dec.
If you go to www.southernenduro.co.uk (Home page) we have add event grading as per the new EWS grading system.
