I'm clearly bored and thinking about what I might buy as next bike for 12 year old...she is riding a Frog 69 MTB.
So what is out there? I know there are loads but any better suited to a smaller (and lighter!) body and ideally 27.5 wheels.
Just having a nosey but would be good to have a smaller list rather than looking at every manufacturer's website.
Ta.
Just built an Orange Four on a small frame for my 12 year old. Seems happy with it now, but ideally the stand-over could be a bit lower.
My mate’s lad (10) has a Commencal Clash, which is really nice. I think it was 1700 for the 24 inch version, but you can get bigger wheels.

Whyte t120/t130 xs I think was a favorite on here.
I just got a Scott Spark Future pro 700 for my soon to be 10year old.
27.5" wheels. comes in small and XS. They also do a 600 (26") and a more budget build.
The 700 was 28.10lbs out the box. We've built it down to 26.10lbs.
Many small/XC 'youth FS trail' bikes are weighing 31-34lbs which is just bonkers.
For light and decent, Vpace do their Moritz in a 27.5 now. also spendy, but well though out.
Used market is tough to find low standovers.

Transition Ripcord,
If you want to shift the frog on in the near future pm me.
I was quite curious about these last year but couldn’t find much info on them.

It looked good but we ended up getting my daughter a second hand orange 5 in the XS Diva flavour which is tiny and great. She loves it but I’d like to get some lighter wheels for it but have been struggling to find something we can afford.
24' bikes are obv not what you're looking for. Here's my 135cm 8 year old on his Ripcord. We mulleted it a couple of weeks ago to keep him out of the holes while we wait for him to move upto his brothers 26" Vpace.
new 27.5 xs bikes or used higher spec 'previous generation' xs 26 bikes some $spend on an updated drivetrain.
Also very much worth worth considering a decent 27.5 hardtail mountain bike rather than full sus.. as going from a 10kg 'hybrid' Frog to a 15kg full susser will probably be a miserable experience.
If you're lapping BPW or the peaks every weekend then go the full sus route but I'm guessing there's still plenty of rider development room coming from the 'limitations' of the Frog

You now have a massive choice ... I'd see that as a positive ...
I wouldn't stress out over "tuned to lightweight" unless she is really really light as you can fix that with either a tune or different shock.
I'd be more concerned finding something with a low enough BB you can put correct length cranks on without feeling like she's perched on top and a short enough seat tube*
Jnr has been on an adult XS since just after his 9th b'day straight off his 24".
He started off with 26" wheels and and some point we switched over for 27.5 on pedal days and a mullet with 26 on the back on DH. [Mostly because he thinks its cool]
He's 35kg now fully kitted up ... rear shock he has a CCDB and this is adjustable enough externally that he's never had any issue using full travel.
He started off with a 140mm old Revelation (32mm stanchions). [he'd been riding SID's on his 24 with 2.5wt]
I swapped the damper oil to 2.5wt and stuck some low friction seals and it worked fine with his weight indeed he was blowing through the travel so maxxed them out at 150mm. At the low pressures there was a barely perceptible top out but they were easily stiff enough for him. He stole a set of my Pikes with Luftkappa and he has no problem using the full 160mm of travel in those either and he's sniffing around my 36's which I have to keep telling him are too heavy and will make it harder to manual and keep the front wheel up on drops and jumps.
He's equally happy riding my Medium framed XC HT.(less happy about the choice of riding but he chooses this locally).. I've made some Dad and Lad cranks so we just swap the pedals from 170mm to 150mm holes and drop the shock pressure in the 32's. Again this is a low frame.
*He'll ride any of the bikes in the household including my size L Mega except the T-130 in M.
The T-130 he finds too high and with the ridiculous seat tube length he can barely get on even with the dropper slammed and down but mostly he feels perched not part of the bike...
Both my bird and mega are way bigger bikes but lower he's fine. (His Bird is the same length as the T-130 but its much lower)
He's also ridden a XS T-130 which was barely any better.
So back to how I started... loads of choice but our experience is low by design.
Obviously that's become very fashionable so if you are prepared to tune the fork/shock you have a huge choice and can really look for what else you/she require instead of limiting yourself.
My lads stands 5ft and rides a small Giant Trance, plenty of stand over clearance and light. He loves it.
