I run my bars narrow at the mo, 660mm but as everything seems to be getting wider what are others running and would it make much difference?

Do you do X ups or bar spins?

around 660 is pretty spot on for a jump bike IMO.
any wider and you'll find X-ups/Barspins more difficult

660s hardly narrow tho.

I used to run dead narrow ones years ago on my dmr, like 22 inches or something daft like that.

I think the ones on my bmx are about 27 inches

28inch ones on my Cotic Bfe at the mo, and the feel like a good compromise for xc,dh and jumps. X ups are still dead easy cos the top tube is quite long, they give plenty of leverage for table tops and kick outs n that aswell,.

I like big bars! On my bmx I've got 30 inchewide bars. I have though about cutting them down to 29, but not sure...

depends what you mean by jump bike.

660 sounds about right though.

710mm on my jumpy bike. Cleaned my first 'big' gap jump on Sunday.

By jump bike I assume you mean a Dirt jumping type MTB, I used to trim a good 20mm of off both ends of mine, I think Eastons are about 660, so I was probably running 620-ish, and that gave enough control but allowed clearance for fully slicked X-ups, never could bar spin properly, but that was me and not the bike…

Shorter is better (within reason) you’re not doing a lot of turning but you really want knee clearance for bar spinney, twirly tricks…

The bikes built around an older Spesh P3 frame and i'm just starting off so not quite up to bar spins yet.

I've got 710's on my BFe but i think any longer on the P3 would make it a bit twitchy in the air?
