[Closed] Juicy 3's - is it easy to 'just' add some more fluid?

The levers on my new-ish juicy 3's have a lot of travel before they bite, I'm used to shimano where it bites after about 1/4 inch lever movement but these move about an inch before biting, so under hard braking I'm almost touching my knuckles, I've adjusted the lever throw but can't go too far and it hasn't made much difference, so I'm assuming I just need to top up the fluid, looks like it's not as easy to add fluid as shimano where you just take the top cap off and top up? Can I just undo the little screw and put some fluid in using a syringe? Or, are they always like this? Don't really want the hassle of a full bleed and bleed kit, I'd rather just swap them for a shimano set.

Try adding some from the caliper up over with a syringe, just let a little come out of the lever end.
edit: dont forget to remove the air in it 1st

Mmm, you reckon from the caliper end? I'll have a look and try that, cheers.

Juicy 3's do have a long lever throw, so unless you have air in the system adding more fluid wont make much/any difference. I bled mine recently, they had a little air in them, and they engage slightly sooner in the lever stroke, but not much at all.

As has been said, the Juicy 3s are just like this.

I thought about a modifying mine by putting something above the lever pivot bolt to stop the lever from going all the way out. Then you could essentially use the lever reach screw as a bite point adjuster.

You need the Avid bleed kit, and follow the YouTube video to use it.

As for trapping fingers, move your brakes inboard of the shifters so only one/two fingers are actually on the lever.

If you are adding a bit you may aswell just do a bleed

Not all juicy 3s are like this, ones that have had a caliper service(with lubed pistons)and a full bleed actually feel quite good.Worth giving them a bleed even if brand new too, been doing two or three sets a day for the last couple of years, and only come across one without air in it.
