Jones plans are on hold due to impending baby costs but want to try the fat front so....

Given the Jones fork spacing is there any reason that the Paul Whub or Jones hub won't fit on a Salsa Enabler fork to be later transplanted across to a Jones? Will the Hope Fatsno work with a Jones fork and the Salsa as a slightly cheaper option and given i have no issues with Hope hubs? Hope Hub

Also, whilst i appreciate its not really designed for this, is there any reason a canfield yelli won't work fat front? The Canfield geometry chart runs down to an 80mm fork which puts the head angle at 70 degrees unsagged so i'm guessing 70.5 with the fat front which would be the same as a sagged fork anyway. The bottom bracket drop seems quite a bit relative to other frames but then doesn't Jeff have a lot of drop on his? Presumably the front end will be harder to lift when stood up although is that not a combination of chainstay length and front end height anyway? And since the yelli has short stays it should be ok?

Appreciate its best guess but just wondering if i'm missing anything obvious on the geometry as to why it'll be a bit of a pig with a fat front.

The salsa fork won't have the same geo as a Jones fork.… so it won' work when you put it on a Jones later. You are better of buying a Jones Steel fork and a Jones or Paul 135mm hub.

Sorry, i wasn't particularly clear. I appreciate the fork will need replacing when i go Jones but was trying to get around having to sort a new hub/wheel build as well. And i think the Jones fork is too short a-c to get anywhere close to working with the yelli.

Jones fork uses a 135 hub with a 9mm axle and front brake spacing.
Salsa enabler fork uses a 135 hub with a 10mm axle and rear brake spacing.

I have used a 135x10 hub in my jones.
I turned the axle ends down 1mm and spaced the rotor across.
I've not tried to use my 135x9 whub in my enabler fork.

I'd not want to put my enabler in my Yelli either...

Ah right, seems that trying to make one fit the other is not going to be that feasible as i don't have the skills or know someone to get the axle turned down.

Why wouldn't you put the enabler in the yelli out of interest? After a bit of digging i found that one of the canfield guys has been using a niner fork on his nimble nine.

The a to c length of the enabler is far to short for me liking to go in the yelli.

There's no reason you couldn't use it but to me it'd ruin the whole point/handling of a yelli.
Is the N9 not designed for a shorter fork than the yelli?

That's fair enough. Hopefully it would just be a temporary thing as i can see the fat front being perfect for my trail riding/mini jump tendencies. At the moment i'm using my swift rigid but don't really want to give that too much of a battering with a fat front as i'm a bit of a heavy lump, plus the yelli would still be slacker.

Re N9, not according to the geometry charts as they both show the 80 - 120mm forks and the figures are the same. Appreciate that some yelli owners run theirs at 140mm but for surrey hills i think thats too slack as, on the whole, its not steep or rough enough to warrant the slacker angle.
