Considering a set for winter plodding both off and on roar on my Surly.
Are they as comfy as people make out?
Are there any negatives?
Heavy, stiff (compared to some carbon bars), price, goofy looks.
Like mine with esi extra chunky grips, comfortable especially on longer rides.
Clink had some of the carbon loop bars on the classifieds if your worried about weight - trail buzz reduction.
We've got titec j bars jones loop and bendy bars , thier all very comfortable and a very natural hand position.
Had them on my fatbike from new. I find them great in snow and other loose conditions when I'm unlikely to be riding quickly, not so good on normal faster rides. I will fit them again for winter riding but otherwise stick to flats and bar ends.
Did you all find you have to move to shorter stems or not?
Read a lot of conflicting stuff.
I really like them, you can also get bends for cheaper price but similar hand position if you don't need the multiple positions and carrying capacity..
I actually went for longer stem,90mm rather than 70mm but I think some folk (Scotroutes?)just leave the same stem as standard bars.
They're extremely comfortable, I kept my stem the same length. They're brilliant, the only downside is the cost really.
I'm just about to advertise a pair, email me if you're serious because they sell FAST.
No, they're the previous ones, (however wide they were).
660mm
I had a set of bend bars which came with a recent rolling chassis purchase.
I sold them as I didn't get the additional hand positions that the loop bars offered,
I went for a pair of loop bars as opposed to the full loop.
I find them really comfortable on the Jones.
Using a 60mm stem.
ESI grips , the XXl extra chunky, with Cinelli road bar tape on the loop bits.
Tried them with a longer stem initially, but for trail riding the shorter stem is better for me.

Denis
I think they require a leap of faith. You won't know until you try them.
I think they're great, your hand and wrists are positioned naturally. Mine are the narrow version, yet I don't find myself wishing for more width, I think they offer plenty of control on rough stuff/at speed, etc. 660 sounds ridiculously narrow, but somehow, in use don't seem that way.
FWIW, I run 745 on my FS and 760 on my Mukluk.
I am also running 730s on my xc bike hence more being after the 710s. Will have a mull though.
I am just getting over a wrist op so getting something with a very natural wrist position is exactly what I am after tbh. The extra chunky grips will also be nice and kind on my wrist.
Love mine,
Hold hands infront of you and have fists holding an imaginary straight bar and then turn outside of hands down and in like a wheelbarrow. Feel more natural and less tense?
Mine do. Loops may not be the peak of technical performance but I do find mine really comfortable.
Would love to quantify the difference beteween the 660mm of the originals which I have compared to the 710mm.
I have the original 660s and run the same stem as with a flat bar. Overlay the two and the reach is almost identical.
The 660s 'feel' the same as my 710 Easton bars on my other bike, it's strange but a lot of people agree, the bend makes them feel wider than they are.
