Anyone else think his riding style is Contador-esque?

He is great to watch. Brilliant to know there is talent like that waiting to take over from Wiggo in the future

I had the same thought watching him climb today. He has got a similar swaying style while climbing on the drops at less than full gas.

He's 27. How much of a long term future does he have, I wonder?

+1 identical style out of the saddle climbing

He'll be at Sky longer than Cav was. Jens (41?) just re-signed with Radioshack and was apparently offered a near blank cheque by Sky.

JTL's injured team mate nearly let cat out of the bag when interviewed by Ned B on the penultimate stage; asked about the competition and how much of a danger Leigh Howard was to taking the ToB he said "he's made the same leap from national to pro-tour team as Jonathan..." cue embarrassed pause...

Yeah but that was stud money. They're hoping Jens will impregnant the rest of the Sky team leading to a whole future team of super-riders who have only one speed.

Attack-speed.

They had to withdraw their offer when they realised as soon as you had more than one Jens-child on the same course, they would just continually attack each other until they reached light speed and sucked the entire universe into a vortex.

Well JTL said that he was making a big step up in terms of team on the Cycle Show last week so I don't think it was any sort of secret. After he mentioned it I googled and the first hit was the suggestion Sky were going to be the people paying his wages in 2013.

When JTL was interviewed on the Cycle Show he pretty much confirmed that he had signed for a big pro tour team for next year, he just said he was't able to say which one. It's probably Sky and he would be a better replacement for Froome than Cav.

Went to Uni with JTL, we exchanged emails in the first few weeks about going for a ride. He said "I've done a bit of racing", which I assumed meant (as it usually does!) that he'd done Mayhem in a team for fun once. We never ended up going for a ride together, wish we had now!

Well at least we will get more 'jtl the ex mountain biker will be licking his lips at the prospect of this climb at the sharp end of the stage'

Distinctive style alright. I was on Gun Hill last week and as soon as the leaders came into site it was clearly JTL on the right.

Not a replacement for Cav though. Would be interesting to see him on the Giro with the steep climbs over there.

Not sure what this talk is about him replacing Cav. There's a few people leaving Sky at the end of the season and it's not like they even want a dedicated sprinter otherwise they'd hang onto Cav. So he's basically filling an empty spot in the team, the whole "JTL to replace Cav" is just lazy journos 🙂

The JTL deal was done with Sky back in the Spring after his impressive showing at Tour Méditerranéen and Tour du Haut Var. In fact his results and style of winning threw up a lot of questions on some other forums.

Some one really should show him how to adjust the straps on his helmet. If he has a crash the thing will just fall off. I do realise that there are those that believe this would be better (tj).

He is a really good rider though, hope he does well and is not sacrified on the alter of making others look good.

All this talk of JTL and no one has mentioned "The new Jens Voigt"..... Josh Edmondson!!
How good a ride did he have in the hills of the last couple of days? Breaking away from the small chase group and the day before putting Basso into difficulty. His pedigree in the european mountains is good too, already won some races out there and rides on a european team. Expect big things from him in the future, as his family racing pedigree is none too shabby either.

yeah I saw that and he was being typically professionally vague, like Cav was before going to Sky, it was just more amusing seeing his team mate's brain realise what his mouth was saying and cut himself off mid sentence.

Agree with Yoda, Edmondson was outstanding and hopefully he impressed the big league teams in the same way JTL did earlier in the year.

Yeah but he only looks 12 (or does me being the same age as Voigt* make cyclist look like policemen)

* although I feel more like Jon Voight than Jens Voigt
