Both my guide and pulley jockey wheels on my XT rear mech are worn and need replacing. Looking on forums there seems to be discussion about whether the 'float' on shimano jockey wheels in needed for good indexing/shifting. Does anyone know whether this is actually the case? Would fitting some of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KCNC-11T-Jockey-Wheels-Shimano-Sram-Bike-RED-PAIR-/260802651477?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item3cb90ca555 have an impact on shifting?
Cheers.
float on teh top one helps a lot otherwise if they aint set perfect they skip about.
For that price just get a new mech, or nearly new one at least
The KCNC work very well on all the mech's I've used them with.XT, XTR ,Dura ace
and 105.
no issues at all
Personally think the Mt Zoom ones are better, they're cheaper and lighter.
I rate the BBB ones, from dotbike...
Just fill the cartridge bearings with grease prior to fitting, then ride.
The teeth wear out before the bearings fail...just like XT...unlike the bushed SLX and lower groupos.
