Hope someone can help me here! The chain has recently started to jump off the Lower jockey wheel when going over any type of rough terrain 🙁
I have already changed the Jockey wheel but still this happened at least 5 times last night and is beginning to p-ss me off some what.

Before I start to look at changing the mech has anyone had this problem and solved it or does someone know what is causing the problem?

Cheers 🙂

What rear mech is it?

If it's XT, in my experience they don't like the jockey wheel bolt being overtightened. There needs to be a gap between the 2 plates at the bottom.

As above, and put some thread-lock on so it doesn't work loose and fall out. Which is also very annoying!

Is there some sort of kink in the chain?

Start with giving the chain a thorough clean and re lube, could be a sticky/stiff link

If the chain is managing to jump off the jockey wheel surely there's not enough tension on the chain?
Is the the chain too long or the return spring in the mech knackered?

Have you damaged the bottom bit of the cage? That happens if the cage is excessively worn or if the little stop that is usually attached to the cage behind the jockey wheel has broken off.

After Thorough inspection I found the outer cage to be worn, Had an old XT mech with a similar cage which fit nicely so will give it a try tomorrow. 😀
