Bikebiz is the industry bible, well worth a look.

Yep, Bikebiz, although I've yet to see: "Career civil servant wanted for highly lucrative riding/working-from-home opportunity. Soul-crushing government IT experience and PRINCE2 practitioner accreditation essential".

I live in hope... 🙂

Don't do it. It is not all free bikes and nights out with Steve Peat.

http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/anyone-want-a-job-in-a-bike-shop

On here/BikeRadar can sometimes work as well. Might be worth a trip to the Cycle Show next month as well, get talking to a few people although bear in mind that they get tired of that question by about Friday lunchtime cos they know that most people asking it want a cheap bike.

BikeBiz is the standard place to advertise industry jobs, manufacturers/dealers websites often list vacancies too.

Be careful what you wish for. Most industry jobs are poorly paid and the cockweasel/decent people ratio is scarily in favour of the former. I'm desperate to get out.

You're obviously not claiming your expenses properly...

Nor pension or ancilliary benefits.

Anyway, as above, watch what you wish for - a lot of bike industry jobs have scant real connection with bikes other than that's what you're actually buying/selling. Think very carefully about what job in the industry you go for.

Whilst in between jobs a few years ago, i worked for Camden council as a Cycle trainer, (Yes the old cycle proficency test type stuff) training kids to cycle on roads around their area. crap money but by far the most rewarding job I ever had. Seeing those faces beam when they 'got it' was amazing. Unfortunatley your not able to afford spares for bikes or pay any rent whilst working for them, it's summer only so had to go and find a 'proper Job' If you have the time i would recommend it.

The only places/companies likely to need someone in procurement are going to be the really big ones, so you'll need to move to work for Giant at least. To be honest, I can't think of many companies based even in Europe where procurement woudl exist within the bike industry.

What sector are you in now?

a) go the the cycleshow in october(ill be on the sabbath stand so say hi!) as most of the key decision makers will be there.take business cards/cv

b) speculatively write to companies that interest you....a lot of positions are sorted out from within so you need to break in!

Captain - Im in procurement for a gov organisation.

I do agree I may need to look only at the large companies as you say, its just a thought but I am not sure I want another 30 years in the gov!

Errrr yeah it is.

Most industry jobs are poorly paid and the cockweasel/decent people ratio is scarily in favour of the former. I'm desperate to get out.

Maybe you just work for/with some arses?

I love my industry job, the pays good, the benefits are good and I'm actively involved with all things cycling from designs, imports, sales, demo-ing and races.
Keep looking on BikeBiz, there are a lot of changes in the bike industry so jobs do pop up quite frequently.
