Ive just bought a GX Eagle drivetrain to replace my 2x 11 XT setup, both Boost. The GX Eagle chainset is a DUB Boost version. I bought a DUB Press Fit BB to go with it, 73mm - it seems this the wrong one as the BB shell is 92mm wide. So two questions - do I need a BB92 DUB Bottom Bracket? If so, any ideas where I can get one, because I cant see any, anywhere...would another BB work, or does it have to be a SRAM DUB?

I think only Sram make dub BBs don't they?
Hope make a conversion for their bb30 (and pf) so you can use a dub crankset.

Yes

If so, any ideas where I can get one,

Any shop with a Zyro fisher account can get you one. I think the part number is BBDUB6000 for SRAM BB DUB PRESSFIT (MTB) 89.5/92MM. RRP is £40

or does it have to be a SRAM DUB?

I'm not aware of anyone else making bbs for 28.99mm axles but could be wrong.

Purely out of interest, seeing as I have the 73mm one already - can I not get the plastic tube in the increased width? Or can I even install it without the tube...what do they actually do anyway?

They’re designed to stop water/crap that gets into your frame via the head / seat tube from getting onto your axle and BB bearings. If you’ve got a carbon bike with and sealed BB tube a-la Santa Cruz you don’t need one.

Interestingly I just did something similar by accidentally ordering an 83mm threaded SRAM bottom bracket. I swapped the centre tube for the old Shimano 73mm one and it fitted perfectly.

Hope sell spare centre tubes, not sure about SRAM though.
