Conscious was the last that Reuters had. Am scanning the jungle drums at the moment.

Fingers crossed...Voigt's a real hero of the peloton, one of those selfless Super Domestiques that make the sport what it is.

Looked like he just lost concentration, and maybe hit a ripple in the road - seriously nasty looking landing, I hope he's OK.

On France 2 it says that he has a head injury, and a damaged elbow.
However, he was not knocked unconscious.

Hope hes okay tho - looks nasty 🙁

Says that he is currently in Grenoble having an MRI scan on his spine but haven't stated whether it is known injury or precautionary. Looked nasty and very face plantesque .. can feel the pain!

Here's a machine translation from a French site....
Says he did lose consciousness briefly....

Jens Voigt briefly lost consciousness after his dramatic fall in the descent of the Col du Petit Saint-Bernard, and he has not yet recovered all their minds, said the organizers of the Tour de France.

The German rider for Team Saxo Bank has lost control of his bike on a small bump. He collapsed on the pavement, his head struck the ground and he slid several meters.

"(Jens Voigt has one), multiple trauma with loss of initial knowledge, (a) significant contusion in the face and right elbow," writes the medical service of the Tour in a statement.

"(It) has regained consciousness within minutes after the accident but still obsessed," says the communiqué.

"(It) was transferred by helicopter to the emergency room of the hospital in Grenoble (and) must pass a scanner (the) whole body in the evening."

Bertrand Boucey, edited by Gilles Trequesser

In French...

Its almost 9pm. When should people discuss a cycle event on a cycle website?

If you were wanting to watch a Carling Cup final on replay you wouldnt visit a football forum prior would you? Asking for trouble.

Well I'm not going to apologise for not putting *SPOILER* in the thread title, this has hardly given away the result. I wanted to find out the extent of his injuries. Lighten up FFS!

Hope the big man is in one bit and back soon. An MRI scan on your spine, even if precautionary, is worrying.

As one of the advocates for not giving away info in TdF thread titles I agree. It's not as if discovering Jens is injured is going to spoil your viewing of the highlights. Really don't see what the problem was in this case. The important thing is to use a bit of sense.

Hoping Jens is OK.

Was it a broken steerer/stem? Looked like he was still holding on hard on the way down.
Hope the news is good tomorrow.
