Forgive the saddlebag. I just like them tbh. Also the painted rotors.... couldnt help myself.
Anyway....
New as in:
First 29er.
First carbon frame.
First time with SRAM triggers ever.... been on Gripshift since the 90's.
First time tubeless, yes really.
First Boost frame.
First time with a PF BB.... hmmmm....
Even first time ive tried a HR2/ Minion tyre!
Enjoyed the build up. Most parts are secondhand except tyres, chain, oval chainring, Brand X dropper etc.
Decided to go for a stealth-ish build somewhat compromised by the tonne of logos on the tyres. 😉
Took it out for a road/ bridleway shake down ride yesterday. Which resulted in my first crash on it. lol Only minor.... caught the wide (for me) bars on some temporary fencing. Really not sure if the 780mm bars are going to be a liability round here. Can see me catching too many branches etc on the natural trails I ride.
Got to sort the tokens/ volume reducers in the shocks and fork though. Fork too progressive, shock, not enough progression.
Tyres rolled surprising well even on the road. Liking the whole tubeless thing so far.
Rode nice and I think it will be a great introduction into the whole 29er "thing". Will be fitting a carbon sixC bar soon once i know how narrow I want the bars to be...
The Pikes that came with the frame were fitted with an Andreani Piston Kit and changed to 150mm too. Find the front a little "poppy" on some steep ups yesterday so might reduce back to 140mm. The Stleath graphics were applied then I fitted the invisiframe kit. I like the look but not for everyone.
Know next to nothing about the Andreani Piston Kit, J Tech fitted it for previous owner that was about 3 stone lighter than me so not sure if its worth getting them to tune it for a different rider weight. Will contact them and see.
Critique away! 😀
Welcome to YT World - Good Times !
I have a Capra as I am too short for a Jeffsy 29er.
Nice build, keep us up to do on how you get on with it.
Like the stealth look!! Enjoy getting in filthy mate!
Nice.
Give the bar width a decent few rides, I bet you'll adjust and stop hitting things.
Bar looks a tad high, but that may be your preference of course.
Yeah, the bar being a little high might also account for the front being a little light on the ups.
That said I have a few prolapsed discs in my neck so prefer a slightly upright riding position.
Will see how it goes.
I still think the bars are going to result in a few offs in the Summer as the bramble and undergrowth grow. 😀
We shall see!
