I have got a pass to ride in Jasper tomorrow am.
One shop recommended Valley of the 5 Lakes, but then the next said it’s loose pebbly and lots of on off pushes.
The other recommendation was Overlander but it appears only there and back and not a loop?
The other one appears to be ‘Trail 3’ by cabin lake and Caledonia lake ?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated

I tried riding up Signal mountain on a crappy hotel hire bike. Fire road most of the way but then I hit snowline. Hiked a bit further and was definitely on an MTB descent of some sort, even with (very minor) sections of north shore stuff.
Strava suggests a trail called 'Signal' descending from approx 1650m.
It's a pretty well known MTB destination though, must be some local route guides no?

The local riding map map only shows sections of trail, if you look at trail forks, reviews are not great of anything !
Hmm, my mistake then, must be thinking of somewhere else. Signal Mtn poss still worth a try though, if only to get high up a biggish mountain on fireroad. Could be a pleasant surprise on the descent plus you can check out Maligne Canyon on your way back, pretty spectacular.
Found a video of Loni's Trail (the descent off Signal Mtn) and something called 'Magic Ridge'.
Trailforks seems to show quite a lot of trails?

Only a bit of pushing, unless you're unfit. It's a cracking ride.
Did 5 Lakes ride. All very doable on a hardtail the ride out was a bit of a slog but the way back in was good fun.
Bit weird that you have stunning scenery all around but most of the time you can’t see it as you are deep in the trees.
Gutted I missed out on a Heli. Biking in Revelstoke. Meany bike shop wouldn’t let me have the bike over night for early morning uplift
