just was on pink Bike that Jared Graves is in hospital after a seizure. Operation and chemo to come. What a shock you never expect someone so fit and well not to be. Hope he beats the Sh^te out of it.
Bloody hell, hope things work out for him. 🙁
**** that is shit news, have a lot of respect for the way the guy took on everyrhing hopefully he can fight this one.
Crikey yeah, amazing rider. Speedy recovery wishes!

"jaredgravesmtb: Some news of the not so awesome variety. To cut a long story short, since getting back home from Whistler I suffered a couple of seizures, and woke up from one last Thursday morning to paramedics taking me off to hospital, where tests and scans were done to discover I have a tumor growing in my brain. So for now more scans and doctors appointments and scans over the next week leading to surgery within the next approximately 10 days. The plan at the moment is to then start chemotherapy. Not sure what else to say for now, it’s all hit so fast....needless to say I won’t be at the last 2 EWS rounds this year as this new battle begins."
Goodness me, I wish Jared all the luck in the world for a speedy recovery. Terrible news.
witnessed first hand what a brain tumour does to someone. Absolutely horrific. Hoping its a positive outcome for Graves and he's back on a bike someday
gah, rubbish news.
I'm sure another 4X rider (Brian Lopes?) was in the news recently about dealing with life post pro-4X and numerous head injuries and concussions. I wonder if this is related.

Probably not directly, it sounds like cancer rather than CTE.
yeah, just wondered if there was any link between CTE and tumours
He'll be rate!
I suspect the cancer is realising its mistake and is now shitting its pants
Thats crap new news 🙁
Awful news to hear, I saw it on his Instagram. It's serious if they've gone straight to chemo rather than attempting to remove the tumour (not that a tumour that can be removed isn't serious, trust me, I know). These things aren't picky - you can be super healthy, not smoke, don't drink. They can just happen.
Bestest of best wishes his way.
Lost my old man to a brain tumour when he was just 43 but a year almost to the day a friends father had a brain tumour removed and to this day is fit and well. That was back in the mid 90s and things have moved on a vast amount since then so let’s all hope for a positive outcome.

There is a go fund me page there, it's going to be tough for him there, any excess cash will go to Brain Cancer research
You might be wondering why we have launched #StrengthForJared?
Being a Pro Athlete – while you can be insured for crashing on track – there’s no income protection when something like this arises.
These are the cold, hard facts Jared’s facing:
o The location of the tumor is positioned closely to a vital area of the brain which has the potential to paralyze the left side of his body.
o Craniotomy surgery to remove the Tumor - Jared will be awake for part of the surgery as the Neurosurgeon attempts to remove most of the tumor and perform motor function tests.
o Only then can his medical team work out the best course of action. It could mean physiotherapy and up to seven months of chemotherapy – starting with specialized radiation treatment five days a week in Brisbane – around an hour and a half from family and friends in Toowoomba (Jared is temporarily unable to drive a car due to his recent history of seizures).
And the real kicker – the reality of no income as the EWS 2018-year finishes for an athlete whose sole career has been based on racing bikes professionally since he left high school.
Jared’s ongoing care is not just about the “now”, it about what’s ahead for both Jared and Jess.
When faced with the fact that across all Australian Brain Cancers, the survival rate after five years is only 22% - the reality hits home hard.
This is all unfolding as Jared’s Pro Riding career finishes mid-season.
With #StrengthForJared – we know Jared has got this!
And all going to plan with Jared back to full health, Jared and Jess will donate to the Charlie Teo Foundation to help support their ongoing research into Brain Cancer.
