Tiger is trolling.
One clue is in:
Hi all, just seen this thread,
...when he has been posting in it already.
C'mon people.
*glitchy bump*
Possibly but if he was paid out is it fair that the OP then loses all his money and was innocent in all the affair?
That is generally what happens if you, even unknowingly, buy stolen goods. Would the OP have had additional protection from this if he'd not used PP gift?
Only this
Doh!
Course it's relevant. Heroic OP gets bike. New poster says he had same bike stolen and asks for serial number check. We could get pitchforks back out if the recycling Mr Jantzen is indeed flogging dodgy bikes.
I was asking if an insurance payout was relevant to... OF course it;s relevant if it's hooky.
Hi all, just seen this thread,
Why didnt you post a stolen thread at the time/since? you are a regular here..
he is trolling - serial number of justkidding come on now.
There are now 3 clues, but alas I must come clean.
but the biggest clue was of course the serial number which it seems only DONK got
Sorry, I will flog myself with birch
edit ( & Mac)

Evidently, not everyone thinks you're just kidding.
OP - lie down, relax and have a drink tonight 🙂

Clever.
I am though slightly disappointed. Like watching a F! race without a single crash. I want it to work out well, but I also like the crash.....
Back to original point though, bereavement, working up north, poorly cat, nervous breakdown etc. All a load of bollx. If someone has paid you £750 you can do them the courtesy of sending a text message to let them know what is going on.. No excuse for that type of delay without contact.

Don't forget, he's called Becky too.
Tiger6791 - you are a knob.
Phew!!
I got so excited I nearly wet myself then

Yep

Kryton should be ok with a Rogan Josh.
Harsh. C'mon it rejuvenated the thread for a while.Tiger6791 - you are a knob.
I reckon he'll be giving it a couple of weeks just to be on the safe side.Kryton should be ok with a Rogan Josh.

Disagree completely, if one of my parents died when I was supposed to be sending a frame to someone I would not even consider the frame for a good while, and I don't believe many people would prioritise it over family. Also not everyone has smartphones and internet, I don't have a smartphone and if I were at my parent's place in the country I wouldn't have internet either.
You don't need Internet or smartphone to send a text. You don't even need much time. Whatever the crisis, I'm sure he could manage to senda text within 18 days.

Agree. I wouldn't be near a forum and if I got calls/texts I'd stare at them and think just **** off and leave me alone, deal with you later. In general when I've had a stressful day or week and someones asking for something I'll avoid/turn the phone off.
(Hopefully) people who know me would defend me on forums etc as not like that in the meantime.
Some people are just chronically disorganised and have little concept of the passing of time.
18+ days, though.
18.
+.
Days.
Whilst this is bound to happen on occasion, family/personal trouble does seem to come up quite often when pp gift issues occur, didn't someone say JB had deleted social media accounts and generally tried to disappear from the web after he received the ppgift? If so "I have been up north for a while for personal reasons" sounds a convenient excuse.Disagree completely, if one of my parents died when I was supposed to be sending a frame to someone I would not even consider the frame for a good while, and I don't believe many people would prioritise it over family
Youre new here arent you?(Hopefully) people who know me would defend me on forums etc as not like that in the meantime.
Nope. Still don't get the serial number thang..& I suspect I never will
It's a backwards alphanumerical alternative to just kidding

Totally agree.
Where do people from 'up north' say they have to go when they need an excuse for not being able to send a text....

Mrb has it - some members derided my post mentioning Lancashire hill farmers and mental breakdown but there are people who simply aren't functioning in the same way as you and me and you see the detritus of their failed lives and half-baked projects all over the place. Did it occur to you that the seller may be suffering depression and may even have been in hospital? Quite often these people lose all sense of reality or perspective and drift into trouble with the law, often through no fault of their own. This has been a great thread and I'm relieved that the bike turned up but I do think the forum ought to treat the seller with a little more balance.

Although he typed it wrong and had to edit it and then of course it's backwards.

If you suffer a loss lots of people will contact you to offer their condolences and you will have the same conversation over and over again. That's death, I'm afraid.
If during this traumatic time you are sitting on someone else's 750 quid, you should at least send them a text explaining the situation. That's common decency.
If you are trusting enough to use PPG for £750, you will probably get shafted. That's life.
Phew,...right need a new purpose/ scandal/thread in my life now, anthing juicy that I can get my teeth into ?
I agree with the op. The seller probably didn't intend to steal the money initially. But when he got it as a paypall gift and the buyer was miles away he thought "lets see if he chases".
Some people are just chronically disorganised and have little concept of the passing of time.

no I think gone full circle and we are in the first circle
its a tough call support Hora if times get tough but any crap will do
or have a marginal Lancashire Hill Farmer pop round to explain how tough life is up North
You're wrong Jamie - you've missed the drift from lynch mob to discussion over disorganised people/crooks which I reckon is good for a few pages yet especially once someone posts stating that they didn't post a bike for 15 weeks because their goldfish died and they reckon that's reasonable.
Just you wait.
And if we still had TJ, Fred, et al on board, I reckon this would still be going at Xmas with lots of claims of straw men, ad hominem, 'you're not listening', etc.
My dad died and was buried in less than 2 weeks.
The world doesn't stop turning and bills still need paying and stuff still needs dealing with.
The seller has bullshitted the OP and got caught out.
In true form can I be the last to post on this thread and say what a corker....thanks STW the wife is now asking me what the hell im laughing at in the cellar when im "supposed to be working from home"
Where do people from 'up north' say they have to go when they need an excuse for not being able to send a text
Prison

Hmm. Ok then, let's keep knocking seven shades of shit out of this recently deceased horse and see where it takes us.
Prison
The Chatham Pocket suggests otherwise.

If it ever comes to that. Someone with a pretty mouth like yours should have no problem getting access to a mobile in prison.
Hang on now everyone, where's the seller in all of this? Why haven't we heard from him?

His TV remote control batteries died, so he's gone up North for a month to grieve.
...and as you know, telecommunications and the internet, stop at the Watford Gap.
True. I'm currently sitting in Wimpy at the services on something called "WiFi".
Got to get back to Sheffield for tea time.
Well what a lovely looking bike after all that, nice one OP I think you've got one hell'uva bargain (despite the wait and anxiety attack you’ve clearly had) It’s a corker and I hope you have masses of fun on it.
This thread I’ll miss, it’s caused me some great moments of hilarity and entertainment and I think all those that posted in good faith have done themselves very proud.
But, I’m with Jamie, it’s done before the bitching starts and ruins it. Maybe Mods could end it here and now for future wonderment..
Fanx Lads 😆
No sweepstake for how much it's going to be relisted for?
Money shot

I wonder if he'll bother to clean it before selling it on?

Of course he will. That's the added value.
Okay fella's , I've read the 18 pages. most of which was either helpful or humorous. I don't know how I've gotten to the point of having to defend myself. but here goes. I have a slight problem and have had for about 30 years. I love bikes, mountain bikes and BMXs mainly but I've always had a slight soft spot for cx bikes. I buy more bikes and parts than normal people. I sell significantly less than I've ever bought. I very rarely get back what I've paid for a bike never mind making money!
I purchased the Giant in December, since then I've logged a few more than 1500 strava miles on it. I purchased a thompson post, thompson seat clamp, sdg seat, xtr 9 speed shifter, new bb, hope brake pads and 1x floating rotor for around £200.
I then advertised the bike, as room is an issue and the money wouldve been nice. I advertised it, I believe, after having decided to go for the Yeti.
I described it as being a bargain as I believed it to be true, I still do, Its a lightweight, well specced, fully functioning cross country bike.
It is now slammed and it is ready for my eldest son who is almost 11 to use when he grows out of his isla beinn 26.
Mods feel free to delete whenever you deem it neccesary
I don't know how I've gotten to the point of having to defend myself. but here goes.
You'd have expected that if you did more than just post in the classifieds normally 😉
hazzajoe WHY do you feel the need to defend yourself? most folk on here rinse through and have too many bikes.
The only thing that concerned me was the PP Gift part.
I don't know how I've gotten to the point of having to defend myself
This is STW, you're wrong even when you're right.
Glad it worked out well for you OP.
Whoever guessed that midday would be delivery time, pm me and I'll Send you a Yeti sticker
^^ i think that would be me
I'd be concerned the dodgy stellar knows the OP's address & that there's a lovely Yeti CX he's probably already 're advertising
... and a load of other goodies too having had a quick browse around his photobucket account.
dodgy stella?
The bottom line is you can't trust someone who has so much Rapha gear...

dodgy stella?
Think we've all been there 😐
Rapha gear...
Speaking of which, is it just me or is their styling a bit rubbish at the moment? Have a couple of bits of their kit from a few years ago and it's nice stuff and still get their mail shots. The single band on one side and the pastel shades all seems a bit boring and lazy.
I have looked through [s]The online catalogue[/s] his Photobucket,
Where's Janzen's email address for forward orders?
Stopped following this at p13 last night. Anything appeared yet? What's this about a dodgy lady named Stella? Was it Stella who setup a fake paypal account to steal a yeti? Just off out to buy some fence posts. Confused of Tunbridge Wells.
It turns out that Jenson Button is a girl named Becky and the bike wasn't really nicked after all.

Bloody Johnny [s]Foreigners[/s] Come Latelys! Put in the time, and it's so much more [s]painful[/s] rewarding.

well if that's the case, she ain't pretty!!
You know those hyped "box set" series, like the US remake of The Killing, that you invest loads of time in, keep you gripped and entertained, then let you down with the ending?
That.
