Tiger is trolling.

One clue is in:

Hi all, just seen this thread,

...when he has been posting in it already.

C'mon people.

Possibly but if he was paid out is it fair that the OP then loses all his money and was innocent in all the affair?

That is generally what happens if you, even unknowingly, buy stolen goods. Would the OP have had additional protection from this if he'd not used PP gift?

Only this

Doh!

Course it's relevant. Heroic OP gets bike. New poster says he had same bike stolen and asks for serial number check. We could get pitchforks back out if the recycling Mr Jantzen is indeed flogging dodgy bikes.

I was asking if an insurance payout was relevant to... OF course it;s relevant if it's hooky.

Hi all, just seen this thread,

My Yeti was stolen from Bristol about 5 weeks ago and looks exactly the same even down to the pedals.

Can you please check the serial number.*

Clever.

I am though slightly disappointed. Like watching a F! race without a single crash. I want it to work out well, but I also like the crash.....

Back to original point though, bereavement, working up north, poorly cat, nervous breakdown etc. All a load of bollx. If someone has paid you £750 you can do them the courtesy of sending a text message to let them know what is going on.. No excuse for that type of delay without contact.

Disagree completely, if one of my parents died when I was supposed to be sending a frame to someone I would not even consider the frame for a good while, and I don't believe many people would prioritise it over family. Also not everyone has smartphones and internet, I don't have a smartphone and if I were at my parent's place in the country I wouldn't have internet either.

You don't need Internet or smartphone to send a text. You don't even need much time. Whatever the crisis, I'm sure he could manage to senda text within 18 days.

Agree. I wouldn't be near a forum and if I got calls/texts I'd stare at them and think just **** off and leave me alone, deal with you later. In general when I've had a stressful day or week and someones asking for something I'll avoid/turn the phone off.

(Hopefully) people who know me would defend me on forums etc as not like that in the meantime.

Whilst this is bound to happen on occasion, family/personal trouble does seem to come up quite often when pp gift issues occur, didn't someone say JB had deleted social media accounts and generally tried to disappear from the web after he received the ppgift? If so "I have been up north for a while for personal reasons" sounds a convenient excuse.

Mrb has it - some members derided my post mentioning Lancashire hill farmers and mental breakdown but there are people who simply aren't functioning in the same way as you and me and you see the detritus of their failed lives and half-baked projects all over the place. Did it occur to you that the seller may be suffering depression and may even have been in hospital? Quite often these people lose all sense of reality or perspective and drift into trouble with the law, often through no fault of their own. This has been a great thread and I'm relieved that the bike turned up but I do think the forum ought to treat the seller with a little more balance.

If you suffer a loss lots of people will contact you to offer their condolences and you will have the same conversation over and over again. That's death, I'm afraid.
If during this traumatic time you are sitting on someone else's 750 quid, you should at least send them a text explaining the situation. That's common decency.
If you are trusting enough to use PPG for £750, you will probably get shafted. That's life.

I agree with the op. The seller probably didn't intend to steal the money initially. But when he got it as a paypall gift and the buyer was miles away he thought "lets see if he chases".

You're wrong Jamie - you've missed the drift from lynch mob to discussion over disorganised people/crooks which I reckon is good for a few pages yet especially once someone posts stating that they didn't post a bike for 15 weeks because their goldfish died and they reckon that's reasonable.

Just you wait.

And if we still had TJ, Fred, et al on board, I reckon this would still be going at Xmas with lots of claims of straw men, ad hominem, 'you're not listening', etc.

My dad died and was buried in less than 2 weeks.

The world doesn't stop turning and bills still need paying and stuff still needs dealing with.

The seller has bullshitted the OP and got caught out.

Well what a lovely looking bike after all that, nice one OP I think you've got one hell'uva bargain (despite the wait and anxiety attack you’ve clearly had) It’s a corker and I hope you have masses of fun on it.
This thread I’ll miss, it’s caused me some great moments of hilarity and entertainment and I think all those that posted in good faith have done themselves very proud.
But, I’m with Jamie, it’s done before the bitching starts and ruins it. Maybe Mods could end it here and now for future wonderment..

Okay fella's , I've read the 18 pages. most of which was either helpful or humorous. I don't know how I've gotten to the point of having to defend myself. but here goes. I have a slight problem and have had for about 30 years. I love bikes, mountain bikes and BMXs mainly but I've always had a slight soft spot for cx bikes. I buy more bikes and parts than normal people. I sell significantly less than I've ever bought. I very rarely get back what I've paid for a bike never mind making money!

I purchased the Giant in December, since then I've logged a few more than 1500 strava miles on it. I purchased a thompson post, thompson seat clamp, sdg seat, xtr 9 speed shifter, new bb, hope brake pads and 1x floating rotor for around £200.

I then advertised the bike, as room is an issue and the money wouldve been nice. I advertised it, I believe, after having decided to go for the Yeti.
I described it as being a bargain as I believed it to be true, I still do, Its a lightweight, well specced, fully functioning cross country bike.

It is now slammed and it is ready for my eldest son who is almost 11 to use when he grows out of his isla beinn 26.

Mods feel free to delete whenever you deem it neccesary

Rapha gear...

Speaking of which, is it just me or is their styling a bit rubbish at the moment? Have a couple of bits of their kit from a few years ago and it's nice stuff and still get their mail shots. The single band on one side and the pastel shades all seems a bit boring and lazy.

You know those hyped "box set" series, like the US remake of The Killing, that you invest loads of time in, keep you gripped and entertained, then let you down with the ending?

That.
