.......I collected the box last night from a neighbour that signed for the box at midday yesterday. It was almost 18.00 when I got home.
I read on page 5 someone said to video the opening of the box to cover myself, good idea but I didnt read it until this morning.
..

I'll cut to the chase.

The Yeti arrived and it was as described, It was filthy and not packaged very well at all, looked like kind of a rush job!

To be honest. I was just happy to recieve it.

Good to hear it arrived, OP.

Sounds like all it needs is a bit of a clean up, and you'll be able to bang it back on the classifieds for £900 8)

Thanks for all of the replies, the positive ones, the serious ones, the funny ones and the ones stating that I'm a dick for using paypal gift, believe me, I called myself much worse than that before I even posted on here.

I'll get back to page 5 this afternoon and read all of the posts.

I took a quick pick on my phone so I'll try to get it uploaded to photobucket and get it on soonish

Thanks STW

We need photographic evidence to prove it's arrived, it could all be an elaborate ruse to make us all do some work!

Ha ha Jamie, it wasn't his bum but it did require 32 stitches 😯 - fortunately we'd already eaten before he showed us the pics (coming to a MBR 'old guys who should know better' photo gallery soon I reckon).

Pleased for the OP. But this:

The Yeti arrived and it was as described, It was filthy and not packaged very well at all, looked like kind of a rush job!

Makes me feel he wasn't expecting to sell it. I could be wrong and if I am I apologise to JB. IMO it's still poor form, none of my stuff goes out with being clean and protected to arrive in the condition I'd expect to see it myself. P

Let's assume, as we got **** all else to do now, that the seller was legit. It genuinely surprises me that someone could forget to post a bike they received £750 for. Ok, some major life event happens, but 18 days+ or whatever it was?

...or, if they guy was trying to be a scammer. Well. He is pretty bad at it.

Awe I feel kind of deflated, kind of an anti climax ending TBH. We've built the OP up and trashed the Seller to bits filled the Internetz with hilarity and now..

Now it's all gone and turned a bit..

Dull..

Again. 🙁

I am however enlightened to the creativity in all of you lot, clearly there are some smart geniuses on here and I'd like to say that you've all entertained me greatly.

Well done.

I'd still like to see a pic of the bike though, sounds a bit shite sending filthy, bet he had one last ride on it and thought sod it.. To that end I think the sellers a bit of a git. 😛

I think we need to hear from Janzen to finally close this loop. Something along the lines of he needed the money to pay his Nan back after she lent him cash for his Uni fees and the only way he could deliver the cash to her was on his Yeti ARC X coz his other bikes weren't ideal for cash deliveries, so he couldn't post it until he'd paid his Nan back and she was on holiday in Jersey until middle of last week

Quick pic that I took last night. I rode it up and down the street and it was fine.
Rode it to work this morning and everything worked as it should.

Im not really sure what the seller was up to, I am inclined to think that he was trying it on, maybe thinking that because i'd paid paypal gift and because I lived so far away that I would just write off £750 if he ignored me....
I'm relieved that the bike is now in my possession

Ahhh now I understand. hazzajoe spent all day yesterday cleaning his drive and garage door so he could post that pic, hence the lack of updates.

ETA - Tyre logos still need sorting though 😉

I disagree. A thief is a thief pure and simple. You'd have had a refund back as the bike wouldn't have existed or he'd have set ou to scam/ignore you full stop I feel.

To a far far lesser degree- lots of STW sellers sell an item then keep meaning to get round to actual posting, laziness. Others have stuff happen in their lives where things take a backseat.

What if the seller had a bereavement or something else?

I suspect it just took him ages to get around to posting it. I live a life where it takes me months to do things - I am busy working nearly all the time and when I have free time I'm on my bike. So proper actual doing important things take a side line as I can do them later in the week when I'm free (which I'm then not).

I'd be giving the guy the benefit of the doubt. Looks a nice bike anyway.

Hi all, just seen this thread,

My Yeti was stolen from Bristol about 5 weeks ago and looks exactly the same even down to the pedals.

Can you please check the serial number.*

This is better than Hollyoaks! Obviously not for the people involved, must suck to be them, but for idle watchers its intense! Needs more attractive people though.

Im not sure how to include the post im referring to in my post, I am referring to the post by hora.
With all due repect I disagree.
I think that when he originaly had the bike for sale he didnt intend to do what he did.
I think that at some point either just before I paid or just after his plan changed.
He was contacting me via text and email and signing off as Becky. The paypal payement and the google searches on the phone number indicated that it was JB.
I appreciate that everyones circumstances are different, but to tell someone that something is in the post when its not and then to ignore them for almost 3 weeks.
his phone was ringing and he was taking the time to press busy.
I have the bike so I'm not really too fussed about arguing as to JB's reasons. This caused me more stress than it should have.

Possibly but if he was paid out is it fair that the OP then loses all his money and was innocent in all the affair? If its an insurance job- the insurance company takes the bike/offers back to the stolee maybe?

Thats if...it was insured and its his call anyway I guess..

Course it's relevant. Heroic OP gets bike. New poster says he had same bike stolen and asks for serial number check. We could get pitchforks back out if the recycling Mr Jantzen is indeed flogging dodgy bikes.
