I've done [s]Paypal gift[/s] Russian roulette before and got away with it; therefore totally safe.
Paypal gift requires either absolute trust or an insignificant amount of money e.g. £20.
I have enough trepidation about buying stuff off a private individual when hundreds of pounds are concerned with fully protected paypal.
Good luck with either getting your frame or cash back.
I have a tracking number.......
That was suspiciously quick.
1. Why hasn't he posted till now?
2. Out of curiosity, what is the format of the tracking number?
3. And if what bruneep says is true, you ain't going to know till, what...Tuesday?
Although, I assume the OP doesn't really give a shit about questions from the floor if he gets his bike back. Bloody classified only users etc etc 8)
I have a tracking number.......
What's the bets it's bricks or a BSO
I have a tracking number.......
My email is in my profile - I work with all the major courier companies so can tell you right away if the tracking number is legit as well as getting you a bit more info.

Make sure you check the contents before signing for the parcel.
expects an empty bike box to arrive.......
Quite the distance...but it's £750.
a friend recently drove from burnley to BPW to collect a bike, another drove from near llandegla to southampton to do the same...
well if he has posted by royal mail, you can expect no shock or forks on the bike 😆
Paypal gift requires either absolute trust or an insignificant amount of money e.g. £20.
Paypal protection is worthless IME, so it's no good getting all revved up about numbers.
For that kind of money you travel and see the bike first. You are assuming it exists, which is a bit of a leap.
Paypal protection is worthless IME
Not in my experience. Bought a set of Code brakes from here that turned out to be absolutely shagged and the seller suddenly turned into a deaf mute. In fact he was also trying to sell them elsewhere. Complained to Paypal and got the money back.
has the bike arrived yet?
If u get any issues me and Andyrm are locals and I have some spare bombers mwhahahaha
Joking aside i really hope it works out ok and a lesson is lernt
Horse head in a box en route to the OP.
I assume if item was shipping via PF, then it won't be here till next week due to Easter Weekend?
I do hope this won't be another, 'classified only user pops up to ask for users help, then promptly naffs off without letting us know the outcome', situation.
Yes pf will be dropping all Thurs pickups on Tues unless paid sat delivery well that's what they told us yesterday lmao
Of course, I am assuming it's PF from the original post, as the OP never bothered to give any more details after saying he had a tracking number.
I assume a scammer who has taken £750 in PP gift could not deliver an imaginary bike on any day of the week,
Just making sure i don't miss the end..
For those that use road.cc the thread has a reply from the seller.

To all the above who have commented... I have just been forwarded the link to this page by an old housemate and friend who still lives at the above address... and I was VERY surprised!I have been up north for a while for personal reasons and have therefore been behind on the delivery. I have been in touch with the buyer about this and I do apologise for causing worry and anxiety, especially over such a large amount of money! I understand. I am both impressed and shocked at the amount of assumptions about me in all the above comments. It just goes to show how much you can find out on the internet about someone, with just an email address to hand! It also goes to show how judgmental people can be! I am not Italian. I am British. I have bought and sold bikes for a number of years and (until now) have had a good reputation.
Unless he has been to the Game Of Thrones version of The North, then he comes across as full of shit.
I am, as ever, happy to be proven wrong.
Have you ever, an aside, ever noticed how many people selling bike bits seem to have sudden and unexpected personal issues between taking the money and posting the item. Its like having 6 dead grans when you need a day off from work, and funeral 7 comes around......
I bouht a frame of Ebay last december, 3 weeks later still not arrived and communication was "intermittent" to say the least.
It then got advertised here a month or so ago.... 🙁 By a new user with no record of posting abusing Hora, reminiscing over Tandemjeremy or any of the usual chat threads.
I do like the way he's coming across as the victim of some hate campaign.
Roughly translated:
I thought I could stuff this guy for £750 by not posting the bike. Unfortunately the internet has found out enough about my in real life that I have to actually send it now.
Jujuuk who was that?
I've been up north - you people have no idea, in your houses, with electricity and everything
Don't worry Hora, I'm sure they'll start taking the piss soon enoughhora - Member
Jujuuk who was that?
Hey Im not worried. Didnt realised I missed a scammer to savage.
He's been up north? Surely he could have arranged a meet with the OP and handed over the bike!
Sounds a shitster who's been caught out by the honesty of the cycling community.
I'd have more respect for him if he just said "Bugger, I've been rumbled".The whole forgot to post it bit, what a ****.
I know the OP through BMX Racing. Top bloke.
Even if it shows up, seller needs a headlock for being flakey.
Hope it turns up. Trust no one.
Hope this turns out alright for you mate. Nobody wants to be shafted, and definitely not from a fellow mountainbiker. I've used PP gift many times without trouble (although not £750), but it makes you think....
if someone took 750 off of me they'd need a Pyschic to talk to me after I'd finished but then if I'd have paid £750 to save myself £26 I'd probably slap myself first.
That would be a very unusual fight to watch.
Just shorten the string on his mittens then wave at him - when he waves back thats when it all kicks off
Hey fellas, Its been Easter weekend and I have two kids to keep happy, hence me not being on here.
As I said on thurs, I received a conformation email from Parcelforce Exprees 48, Via Janzen, I have the tracking number and the details state that pick up was not going to be until today betweeen 12.00 and 15.00. I wasnt really best pleased that this was the case but at the same time IF the bike is as described and it does reach me by thursday, then I will be a lot happier than I was at this point last week.
I hope it all comes good matey.
*books Thursday off*
By way of optimism, you never know, it could just be that the seller's life is so chaotic and disorganised that he simply didn't get around to it. Some people even have breakdowns and can't organise themselves. Quite a lot of people are living on the edge of a breakdown; just look at some of the hill farms around the fringes of the industrial parts of Lancashire and you'll see plenty of evidence of that.

Interested- why?
This thread has made me happy for two reasons:
1) It looks like the OP is going to get his Arc-X
2) We've FINALLY got a valid reason to discuss those hill farms around the fringes of the industrial parts of Lancashire!
I have been on a selling spree recently. I have learnt that it is incredibly important to:
(a) find a box to post the stuff in before offering it for sale (bike boxes especially are a faff to get hold of); and
(b) schedule time to get to the Post Office - this is a dull, sordid task that it is easy to put off.

Or use myhermes- fantastic service. Or parcelmonkey.
I've used Parcelmonkey before, it worked really well. In fact they really got me out of a bind because my package (a snowboard) was too long to be taken by all the couriers I could think of (ParcelForce, UPS, FedEx etc.)
myHermes have been slated on here before- are they better now? Or was it all unjustified in the first place?
Or use myhermes- fantastic service
although they've just missed collecting a parcel on two separate days for me and I've rebooked with someone else and got a refund.
I always drop off at my local corner shop- cheaper too.
Never had a problem with myhermes.
I always drop off at my local corner shop- cheaper too.
You mean as in Collect+? Or do myHermes do that as well? I've great (and cheap) service with Collect+
Myhermes collect or do store drop off. I'd have no issues using myhermes, but all local shops are Collect+.
Funny you should mention - I've just had to re-collect a package from my local store as his "Hermes machine" is broken. I've informed the purchaser and will take it to smother store today.
Other than that, Hermes and the collect from store option have been excellent, certainly far less gaff than Royal Mail.
Loads of local stores (to me) are now myhermes drop off points. Same as Collect+.
Tell us about the farms-bit!
[s]Tell us[/s]pm Hora about the farms-bit!
not much to discuss til thursday may aswell post some guff about the hill farms around the fringes of the industrial parts of Lancashirepm Hora about the farms-bit!
Got a bike yet?
As a hill-farmer on the borders of Lancashire, I completely agree about being on the edge of a breakdown. I haven't posted a bike in ages either. In fact never.
Or use myhermes- fantastic service.
They are the guys that put your parcel by your front door and post you a "we missed you" card through the door, without actually bothering to ring the bell or knock on the door.
Some hours later you open the door and find that your expensive item has been sitting in full view of passers by for several hours.
Yep, great.
It's DPD who provide great service.

No, that's City Link...
Got a bike yet?
Patience. The will it/won't it arrive threadmageddon, starts tomorrow.
Think i'd video the opening of the box incase something ain't right.....
OP, please post up the tracking details so we can all follow in real time
oooh, biscuits !
No, that's City Link...
No no no. City Link would never put your parcel by the front door, they'd chuck it there from the roadside.
Hooray! Thats 2 of us getting a new bike tomorrow IF the vendors come good on original mistakes. Fingers crossed.
OP, please post up the tracking details so we can all follow in real time
I wish it was DPD delivering, then we could track the guy down the street.
AND KNOW HIS NAME!
Just read the thread for first time and got all excited thinking I was going to get to the outcome then remembered it is still Wednesday. Good luck op, I'm rooting for you!
So has it arrived yet?
Is it marked as "out for delivery"?
I'm so excited to find out what turns up
My guess is it will be the bike, as described, but due only to the fact he's been rumbled and so much info found out about him
STW whipped into an empty box frenzy of anticipation
I want to see a photo of the new bike...
an empty box frenzy of anticipation
Any toddler will tell you that the box is the best bit.
I hope the OP gets a happy ending. And his bike turns up safe and sound.
Haven't you got more pressing matters to deal with Kryton?
Distraction is the mother of all luxury's today tomhoward...
😆
DAMMIT!
Got to go to a meeting...
