Looking at my first foray into 29er and looking at a 2nd hand Jamis Dragon 2013 frame. Any real world experiences please before I shell out?

I have one, perhaps and inch too big for me. I bought is as a complete bike, in the sale as the spec was great. The frame is solid, classic design.
Too classic for me to be honest, as my riding has developed it's not really what I was after, the head angle is too steep for example.
Plus the stock wheels are very flexy, if I was to buy a 29er now I'd be looking for through axles etc.
but it did me for a year of excellent riding and still take it out on gentle stuff with the wife.
reading this back it doesn't sound very helpful?
