I can find a load of 'coming soon' news stories from a few years ago but not any real world experiences of these

Anyone tried it?

Why not just buy a Shimano optislick gear cable kit? Or some decent outer and a ptfe/slick cable and some sealed ferrules?

Better still, upgrade your rear gear cable and then run the old one through some SLR brake housing for super light dropper action.

Already running Elvedes super slick 49core stainless inners. The issue is tight bends. This is meant to be better as thinner more flexible outer and slick thin inner.

there’s no issue on my XL (lovely light action) but on Ks medium the seat tube is much shorter

see this thread. https://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/oneup-dropper-can-you-put-cable-at-back/#post-12935938
I was looking for double ended ferules (to add a section of nokon) when I found this.

But that's the point. Brake housing is more flexible than any gear housing and relative to that, the gear wire is thinner so less contact with the housing.

Got you.  Sorry - didn't understand the 'upgrade rear gear cable bit'

Without even looking it up I just know a replacement 0.8mm inner is gonna be a premium price.

I’ve got one on my bike.
Not noticed any real difference TBH. It works fine and was nice and easy to thread through the frame. Just try it and see if you prefer it.

I have one. It negotiated the twists and turns through the frame very well.

Thanks - I'm bought one to try.  Given need to drop the motor and remove battery on the Rise to get the Seatpost out it's no more hassle to run something different next time it needs servicing anyway.

Spent more than a few hours trying to run a standard cable housing with no joy.. the 3.0mm jagwire housing pushed through first time with no help, no magnets, nothin.

Pricey but the routing on a V4 5010 is no good for a normal stiff brake housing.

Hope this helps 👍

Jagwire outer is pretty good, v flexible, and I'd say it maybe lasts a bit longer then generic "outer"  Never noticed anything special about the working of the inner once all installed though.

About 20 quid if anyones asking.

I hate those poor quality psa'a that dont quote a price. Someone should do something about them, have a base standard or such.

Sorry - wasn't really a PSA.  It's been on K's bike a while now and definitely resulted in a much lighter action on the dropper which was what we wanted.

too early to judge longevity.

You shouldn’t have to drop the motor.

@phill5556

In my experience you do.  We've got two of them and I've done a few seat post services/changes now.  The outer won't feed past the battery (it's not sleeved) to allow you to keep it all attached.  if you just pull out the inner theres no way to feed a new inner into the outer cable when it's half way down the seat tube.

Never heard of this previosly - but co-incidentally a new frame I bought recently came with this Jagiwre dropper cable kit - I was intrigued what this 'special' 3mm gear outer and cable was for but it soon made sense.

As per poster above, its much more flexible and a lot easier to thread through a tricky frame, seems really nice. No durability testing from me yet but I'm impressed so far.

OK but in my experience you don’t.  We’ve got two of them and both I have happily taken the posts out of both.

I’m not sure I’d be able to change the outers without having to drop the motor (haven’t had to yet) but can definitely feed enough of it into the downtube / out of the seat tube to disconnect from the droppers.
