I hope this is okay to share with you all.

Do you remember when you rode your first bike? I think I was about 4 or 5. It was yellow, and had small white tyres. Not a patch of the PUCH BMX I had a few years later.

I got my son his first bike when he was 3, which he rapidly outgrew. I still remember vividly the Saturday in summer 2013 when we took the stabilisers off. (Don't judge me- i know the balance bike was a better choice).

My son Jacob is now 7, loves his cycling and fishing but is laid low with a rare Bone Marrow disorder: Hypoplastic Myelo Displasia. The consultants at Sheffield Children's Hospital are the best/among the best practitioners of Bone Marrow/Stem Cell transplantation in the world. That is where my son is at the moment having received a 90% tissue matched bone marrow transplant back on February 8th. It is a tough process to submit an adult to, let alone a child. I remain inspired by the way Jacob has handled the chemical shitstorm put his way since his conditioning started on February 2nd.

There are two things I want you all to know, and hopefully act on:

1. BONE MARROW DONATION IS EASY.
2. REGISTERING AS A DONOR IS EASY.

If I was asked before September 2016 how BONE marrow is donated, I'd have guessed some medieval horrors story. In fact Donating bone marrow need be no more challenging than a blood donation, plus a little tiredness perhaps.

REGISTERING for the privilege is evening easier.

The consequences of the above points are an increase in the chances of someone in dire need living a normal life, instead of succumbing to a disease early in life.
