Hi all, thanks for taking the time out to read this. Ive just ordered my new bike, a YT Capra pro...the new blue one. Im worried Ive made the wrong choice & maybe should have gone with the comp....mainly cos of the suspension. Im worried the Bos might be too much for me, Im certainly not a pro rider. The uk does now have a Bos service center so no worries there. What are your thoughts?
If you can afford it, go for it, enjoy it, didn't worry you when you ordered it
Bos stuff is excellent regardless of what level you are.
you'll be fine. Enjoy it.
looks nice don't know why your worried I bet it rides well just over 28lb is nice and light, change rear tyre for a faster rolling one happy days 😀
it's us shit riders that need the good stuff - keep it !
Why would you be worried about having excellent suspension?
I had Idylle forks and Stoy shock on my last bike. They were outstanding and never put a step wrong. Best suspension I've ever had by a country mile.
There is plenty guidance online about how best to set the forks and shocks up.
I just ordered a Capra Pro Race and can't wait to get more BOS goodness.
How long have you been riding for? I wouldn't recommend BOS stuff to anyone who's been riding for less than 4 years; but ideally you want to have 6 or more years saddle time before you're ready for a full BOS setup.

Erm, why?
Or are you being funny?
Worried that you've ordered a bike with great suspension...how bizarre!
Lol, cheers guys. Funny how quickly things can be put in perspective. Cant bloody wait. Very funny replies...made me chuckle
OP will you be a fat, 40 year old biffer using BOS suspension?
Oh no! My mistake. That's me.
dt - quality, as ever 🙂
You get a lot of bike for your bang. I think they're stunning.
Bit too capable for me - it'd be like Johnny Vegas riding Kauto Star 😀
And welcome to the forum.
Do you turn down advances from girls (or boys) that you think are 'out of your league'?
The only mistake you've made is setting the bar quite high for when you next buy a bike !
I know nothing about Bos suspension, but many aspects will the same as RockShox, Fox, DT Swiss, Marzocchi etc. For example, air springs/pistons/o-rings, coil springs, damper cartridges, seals, compression/rebound adjusters it's all the same stuff. If you get a good understanding of suspension mechanics, you can take care of basic maintenance yourself for the forks and rear shock. With most suspension products, you can safely take it apart to clean and re-lube the main moving parts without doing anything to the complicated damping parts. You just need to get the right tools, oils and learn the basics. And then, say, every 2 years, pay a specialist like TF to do the tricky parts you can't do yourself, such as rebound circuitry services, nitrogen top-ups etc. My view is that it's better to have high quality suspension and look after it. You've made a good decision with that bike - wish I had one 😉
DO NOT listen to anyone above. You have clearly made the biggest mistake of your life and the only outcome of this is certain death. I, on the other hand, will happily dispose of your heinous error so as to cause you no further distress and harm.
You may rest easy now.
I'd LOVE a YT Capra. Lucky bugga 😀
Is the op worried about service intervals on BOS? Perhaps set up?
In terms of riding the thing you shouldn't be worried about having BOS, I'm sure it's very good. Servicing, maintenance or warranty issues might be another kettle of fish but I haven't concerned myself with such things recently.

He's always a cock, don't worry about it. He can't help himself
I'd be more worried about it cracking in one of a few places.
Then not being able to sell it on for that reason.
Jungle and Mad Elk will service Bos. Intervals are two years or so. I've been running Idlye Rare Airs' for nearly two years now on the 'big' bike and they have (touch wood) been faultless. Devilles' on the little bike, also brilliant. Just set them up as per the instructions TO THE LETTER and you will be fine.

An early entrant for fool of the day.
I was looking at getting one of these, tell me how you get on. Lucky git!
Don't believe the service intervals they quote. They say 2 years or one year with heavy use. When the stanchions on my devilles wore out after 10 months it was my fault for not having serviced them. The wouldn't budge and it cost me £300 to have them repaired. I then sold all the Bos kit I had as while performance was good support was appaulling.

I thought it was a jolly humourous post. 🙂

I believe you may have been wooooshed.
My stations are fine. For what it is worth. On the flip side every pair of rock shox I have ever owned (and there have been a few) have in someway, sh!t themselves.
It's good kit, BOS, only issue will be if there are any warranty issues as the suspension has to go back to YT for BOS in France to inspect not the UK Distributor Jungle, this is only for YT stuff as it's direct, but should be fine.

It wouldn't be the first time!
