so i popped out for a bimble on the hybrid (rigid swift with 35mm CX tyres) but was acosted by a riding buddy as he was passing me in the car, a cuppa followed and he said "lets go ride" so we did, i've grown soft and am used to HT 29er with big tyres which just rolls all over the local terrain, what a difference skinny tyres (the rear very worn from commuting) makes, i feel battered trying to keep up with a FS over roots and the iron hard ground

and 185mm discs applying their braking force through a 35mm bald tyre into dry dusty dirt makes for a whole new experience, it certainly makes your line choice more important

Hey RD, was in the shed today looking at a rigid 29er that I dont use much as I have a couple of others, so I popped on some roadie bars and thought, hhmm I could turn this in to a geared cx type thing with skiny tyres and some bb7s. Just been looking at shifter/brake levers and I realise what a mine field of compatibility and expense I've wondered into. Is it worth it? Will I hate the ride? At the moment I feel like I have a project and potentially a new / different type of ride at the end of all the hair pulling and price cringing. Thoughts?
disappointingly for your wallet, you'll love it! should pay you back with relearning great line choice when you get back on a fat tyred bike too
'am used to HT 29er with big tyres' - I've had a similar experience riding a scandal riding roots and rocky stuff with full suss 26ers, what big tyres are you running on your HT Rocketdog?
Bonty XRb on the front and crossmark on the back, not that big compared to some, but fast rolling and grippy for summer (and a lot fatter than 35mm)

Do i spot a jandd seat pack....on that curious bike of yours?
you do,(geek!) skinny tubes fit in it (it's usually on my road bike)
Got one of their courier bags, 14 years old and still going strong....

Hey RD let me know where you got the jersey from...
have a look at www.velocake.co.uk jerseys and membership via Mullerton
The niche warning was not nearly strong enough, I feel violated now 😯
violation is all part of the ride round here if you pick the right participants
