But fairly specific. My 29er FS has eaten the Nobbly Nic on the back in about 800k. And it felt a bit rubbish and squirmy compared to the Hans Dampf up front. Not a lot of room out back for another HD and I prefer a slightly less aggressive tyre on the ear.
Considering an Ardent Race. Anyone tried them? Failing that it's an Ardent or possibly a Mountain King. But I think the MK will probably suffer the same way the NN did.
The Ardent Race looks quite interesting. Probably be useless in mud but I've got the HT with some proper filth tyres fitted for winter. Need to order something today so I can ride in Wales this weekend. Don't think the NN'd last a day or Welsh Rockiness the state it's in.
On One Smorgasbord might be just the ticket.
Especially if you have dedicated mud tyres too.
Which Nobby Nic did you have?
I felt the same about an OEM/cheap pair I had, the more expensive ones with better sidewalls seemed a lot better.
Ardent is a good tyre- pretty fast, and though it's got no tread it clears mud well so it has a surprising amount of grip in the wet. Not that much less than a Nic, generally, and doesn't have most of the vices of the Nic
Ardent Race looks like a half-worn normal Ardent....
Wouldn't you just be better off with the normal one? Ardents are a great all-round tyre IMO. 2.4 front and 2.25 rear for hooning...
The NN was a triple compound one I think but it was torn up by Spanish trails last week and was looking pretty bruised before then. I'm tending towards an Ardent (no exp of On One tyres) as I've had the 26inch versions before - didn't like them on the front much, always okay on the back. They came up pretty large tho.
Still one way to find out.
