To alleviate hot feet last year I pierced lots of holes into my shoes with a soldering iron. This was ok but could still be improved on.
Simple solution is to cut the tongue out.

Following the shoe success I thought I'd improve my shorts of many holes by making big ones.
Once again a success. It's not the amount of holes it's the size that counts. They holes look a bit ragged which is'nt a problem as know I know it works I have another pair of shorts to attack. I shall heat a big bolt up and melt holes using that.

Appreciate you are 'upcycling' old kit, so not really an issue but you can buy kit that does all this and doesn't cost that much.

I've improved the long zip as well by cutting the mesh out and also the pockets.

Not at this time of year - the season hasn't begun yet. Wait 4 weeks until the summer holidays begin and you'll have parents queuing up to offer you their kids...
