Friday evening rides post summer holidays are a thing again. Beautiful night to be out if a bit breezy, clouds of dust were being whipped up at Glentress where we had decided to go and play on the jumps and berms. Unfortunately whilst trying to avoid the braking bumps and covering of trail debris I managed to lose the front and went sliding down one of the bigger berms. Still a good night.
Been up to some woods in North Yorkshire this morning, near my in-laws as that's who we're visiting this weekend.
First time up to this spot in quite a while. Some stuff overgrown with bracken however some of the main lines have had some serious work done (some nice/well built berms and small gaps) and riding prime.
I did find the only bit of mud probably in the whole of North Yorkshire and accidentally rode through it. Need to wash my bike for the first time in ages!

Been away all week with work, and not feeling 100%. So it was lovely to feel back to full strength, and have a great day, riding fab, dry local trails under sunny skies!!
The trail
The bike
The silly sod who decided to try circus tricks through my front wheel
Made sure they were as OK as they could be after running into the spokes. Then moved well off the trail and gave them a good bit of fern covering as it's a popular spot for dog walkers. Poor bugger was unconscious when I stopped and when they came around made no effort to move - must have really rung their bell and the nosebleed suggests a fair whack on the snoot. Checked again on the way back to the start and the 'den' I made was still there just sans hare.
Collarbone rehab ride #4. Still not riding proper trails but back to the Yat and meeting up with the normal riding crew. Very much enjoyed my first post ride beer on the river this summer 🙂 Also went back to where I crashed and found where my skills crisis resulting in the OTB. It doesn't look much on the photo but it's quite a sizeable drop. That I dropped my front wheel into as it was a new trail to me and I just missed it.
40km, 800m of climbing and I'm done!
A ride down to Hindhead today for me.
From Hindhead looking south with the South Downs in the distance.
Looking north over the Punchbowl with Aldershot in the distance and the Chilterns on the far horizon.
Thanks @singlespeedstu - felt like coming home 🙂 I reckon it's 75% healed and I really don't want to start from square one again so got to work myself back into it gently. According to consultant "collarbone is strong enough to ride but not yet strong enough to.crash"
I've been in Normandy with my older son all week originally with the idea of some riding interspersed with D-Day history. While we have seen the odd roadside monument, for him it's been all about riding on quiet, mostly smooth roads fast. I managed to get the odd look at a memorial but not a lot more, think I'll go back with his younger brother for a more relaxed pace in a year or two!
Managed around 5x my typical weekly mileage this week including 2 fully loaded 100km days from Ouistreham to our accommodation and back.
The Free Ranger turned out to be quite a capable road bike with some tubeless 28mm tyres alongside his older carbon road bike.
Took very few pictures but here's a tank and
a galet.
Rebuilt the DBR in another configuration
So what vintage is that? Mid 90s?
Bollington Enduro this weekend. Had such a good time, well organised and just fun. Recommended!
Edit. No pictures coming through..
Late start today due to the local brewery re releasing one of my all time favourite beers this weekend. At 8% it has a nice kick to it...
Mix of trail centre and enduro trails as Mrsstu is getting to grips with her new XC bike.
25km/1000meters and hangover blown away.
Wee visit to the kelpies and back via Devilla Forest and West Fife Woodlands - 55kms round trip

Out with the little one in tow on Saturday. Did a nice 16 mile ride through the local woods then down to the beach for ice cream.

Really need to get out on the MTB for a solo ride as it's been a while, so will hopefully find some time after work one day this week.

Seems to be a good compromise of being fast uphill and on XC going but still capable enough to cope with some of our more fun off piste trails.
It's got me thinking of something similar for myself.
That's a fast looking bike! My Yeti SB130 is going to its new owner today. Definitely got a space for something like that 🙂
Still trying to get used to my new road bike, on a mix of road and gravel. Tbh now I have a "proper" one with gears and stuff it's sucked all the fun out of riding road (which admittedly there's not all that much of to begin with!). I'm slower on this and feel like I've wasted my money. I prefer my Langster so will probably just hang on to that and keep this around for winter/indoor training rides since gears are more useful for that.
Great weekend it was exploring Aberdeenshire. Managed to get Aboyne, Pitfichie and Bennachie in over the weekend (OK, Bennachie was a couple of days before the weekend proper).
In the rare situation that I'm starting to moan that the trails are too dry!
Family commitments meant our Sunday ride was today. Advantage was easier to park and no one on the trails
Rode in the East Peak. Trails were dry and fast. Great for blasting down
Hey @SSS, that's my parking spot! (not a recent photo, but its only a couple of miles from the house and on a good local route for me)
Weekend almost passed me by before a ride on Sunday evening, finishing just before the rain. 30km and 1,100m elevation in 1hr45 on the e-bike, rinsing myself in the process. Brilliant fun.
