Another local ride on the new flaremax. It's definitely made me faster on descents. I've had a couple of PBs on it already despite the winter slop. It's a beast.

@trailmonkey.
How's the shoulder doing now?
Seems like you're making a good recovery.

Cracking ride yesterday to the Peak District to return the Cotic Cascade I reviewed. Seemed cheeky not to ride the trails after dropping it off

@singlespeedstu Hi mate, shoulder’s about as good as it’s going to get I reckon. Bit of nerve damage so it feels a bit weird but I’ve got full mobility back so it’s a result really. Just enjoying my riding at the minute and it all seems to be falling back into place bit by bit.
How’s the collarbone ? All fixed now ?

@trailmonkey
Seems we're level pegging on the nerve damage thing.
Full mobility, not stopping me from doing anything but still randomly aches/tingles/goes numb/ hurts like **** on bad days.
Bone is finally fixed but the plate is now a permanent feature.
Riding life has exploded since moving up to the Tweed Valley.
Give us a shout if you ever get up this way.
Be good to show you round.

Friday skive. Plan was for a 50km gravel/trail/bit of road loop around the FoD. Ended up 40km after GPS death 😉 Sloppy after rain, but new bike was fab. Dropper post makes it so much more fun on the interesting bits. Definitely a bit slower (esp on the road) than the Tempest it replaced but a good trade off for everywhere else.

With anxiety levels through the roof, I couldn't face the prescribed 3:30h training session, so decided I go out for an MTB ride with a bike devoid of racing potential and power meters. Even then, motivation was so bad I struggle not to return after 30 mins. Anyway, 2.5hrs later:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/kryton1957/51921907495/in/photostream/

Of course I'm glad I went now, despite realising upon my return I'd forgotten to pick up any tools, tubes etc, so I'm glad there were no mechanicals or punctures.

Icy and gravelly tracks in the Trossachs. MTB was a good choice.
The warmth of the sun was much appreciated.

Skipped up Colsnaur - and what a ride!

Frozen ground and had the hill to myself.
Superb fun - and I definitely needed that 🙂

Muddy round here, so mostly stuck to the forest roads and surfaced singletrack today, which sadly meant lots of muttering and shaking of the head at the ignorance and complete lack of awareness of a large proportion of forest users...

I'd liked to have taken a photo at the top of the techie wee climb up to a small castle on a local estate but I'd interrupted a couple enjoying the warmth of the sun... had I arrived a few moments later I suspect she'd have had her mouth full! Told them I'd let them get back to it after getting my breath back. Just as I left he said 'Careful on the way down!' - all I could come back with was 'And I hope she is too!'

So took a photo of some snowdrops a bit further down:

Purbecks yesterday, blowing a hooley, but behind us when riding up from Old Harry Rocks and east to west up Ballard Down, Godlingston Hill was a slow grind though.

@lowey - that first one is a cracking picture!

Went for a ride yesterday out to Cambusbarron with my son, but my mojo, even from the first pedal strokes in teh driveway, had just completely deserted me. Awful ride, that should have been great! Highlight was sitting in glorious, still, sunshine from a very quiet trig point of the North Third. Was so down in the dumps I couldn't even be arsed to take a picture!

So, here's one from this morning, a quick local blast up the Wally Monny and round the uni woods - mental/physical equilibrium now restored.

and from a couple of weeks ago that I forgot to post in stu's usual thread:

Shi**y pi**y road ride on the gravel bike on Friday. No pics, but despite the weather, good to get out.

Lunch hour and a half today on the gravel bike, on improving trails. Against a deadline, so no pics.

Glorious late afternoon ride on the SS BigWig on Sunday. Lotsa pics ...

Bought a new bike, so booked a day off and booked a last minute Welsh Weekend with Mrs Ready. Rode Cwmcarn on Sunday, then BPW uplift yesterday. Weather was chilly, but dry and sunny for both days - almost perfect!

First 'gravel' ride up in Hertfordshire on Sunday since I moved here a few weeks ago. My tyres were proved completely inadequate in the claggy mud you get round here, so there was a lot of slipping about. I'm kinda amazed I didn't end up in the mud face first. In any case, managed a a day in the sunshine up and around the north Chilterns.
