Who's going?

Got a couple of mates and a mates lad competing, hopefully the weather holds off.

Great little event, didn't make it last year and there was COVID before that. Would have preferred it to be in May as usual, but that couldn't be

3 of us going. Last year we spent all the time hiding in the shade changing nappies and stuff so it wasn't as rowdy as usual for us.

This year he's a bit easier to deal with and he loves bikes so hopefully we'll get closer to the action.

I took a picture of the schedule, might be useful for someone...

We will be going to watch. Not missed one since it began. Daughter has been a regular competitor but missed last year due to injury and this year is in NZ.

There and having a great time. Weather is clearing, beer is flowing and racing is good.

Completely forgot it was this weekend! Have been wanting to go for a while now and was going to this year but had another event scheduled for today, that got moved to next weekend and my brain didn't kick in to notice the possibility.

Ah well, next year hopefully.

Bugger, was telling my lad about the race a couple of weeks ago when we were there. Didn't realise it was today.

Was thinking of going to greno tomorrow morning, anyone know if it will be open?

Another great race. Crowds were cheering every competitor from the top to the bottom. Everyone looked to be enjoying themselves.

Big thanks to the organisers and volunteers who once again came up with the goods.

Pat! Legend, 80 years old and still sending it.

I was marshalling the bombhole today, thankfully no serious injuries.

Think someone said she is 80 this year.

Think she is 80 this year.

Yup, hence the number board. Only rider to have the track to herself, all others held until she's safely across the line. The cheering for her on her final run was awesome.

@relapsed_mandalorian I was the orange marshal stood next to you for Pat’s second run.

Great day, and couldn’t have done it without all the volunteers!

Aye, long assed, but very successful day.  Me and her do site staff, so the guys in orange hiviz. There at 05.55 this morning. Left at ten to eight their evening.  No disasters, no helicopters, no major stoppages so all good

@relapsed_mandalorian - thanks for giving up your day to help out - couldn’t do it without you (sorry I didn’t really put a name to a face!). All the marshals and the Ride Sheffield Trail Crew who pitched in made the setup and clearing the site at the end of the day SO much faster than previous years, although the vast majority of spectators not chucking their rubbish on the floor also helped.  Thank you.

Pat.  Legend. 80 about 2 months back. Only started riding in her 60s…!

Glad those of you that made it along enjoyed yourselves. The weather wasn't quite as good as last year but it didn't rain, there was a bit of sun and no one fried to death in the heat.

I'm one of the 5 folks that make it all happen, ably assisted on the day and for set up and digs by Jon, Stealthcat and other parts of the Ride Sheffield crew, on the day we have a lot of others who help with marshaling, such us as relapsed_mandalorian, manning the merch and Ride Sheffield stands and lots of other stuff.

It takes a huge amount of time and energy to make the event happen, all unpaid and the proceeds go to maintaining the mtb trails in Greno Woods. If you had a good time please donate a few quid to the pot, set up a trail fund subscription with Ride Sheffield or come to some dig days and put some graft in. Seeing all the thousands of folks (about 3,5k people in total we believe) having a great day makes it all worth while.

Granny McGnarly! Hung out with her and John on a Basque trip a few years back. Great to she’s still untouchable in the super-mega-tera-vets category. Eighty!!!

Congrats to the SCDH crew. I couldn’t go but my mates had a great time.

It really is a great event. Hats off to all involved - donation was made on the day

Missed it this year again - was gonna bring MiniMonkey number one to watch, but she decided she'd rather have a day out riding her bike instead. Can't really argue with that, to be honest.

I was quite looking forward to just watching, I've not been for a few years but the times I have been I've either been marshalling or 'racing'.

Maybe next year...
