I once "rescued" a woman who had been stuck on a path underneath Black Hill for twenty minutes because of cows in front and behind her on the path... 🙂

As I'm actually a farmer meeting him didnt bother me, I just wasnt expecting him to be there (I think he was lost, having just followed the path up hill from where his mates where grazing). He wasnt keen on getting out of the way though, had to walk past him.

jedi - if I hadnt stopped to text you that pic it would have been quite amusing cos I would have been going quicker !!

what is it a dexter?
- aberdeen angus cross I think, normally only see galloways up there

Malvern Hills Conservator in disguise? Do they still have the busy bodies telling you not to ride on the ridge?

no busy bodies around at night. But unnervingly the cows like to sleep on the path so night riding where theyre grazing can be fun 😉

But unnervingly the cows like to sleep on the path so night riding where theyre grazing can be fun

There was a night riding article in MBi many years ago, back in the days when lights were 5W halogens and would last for 30mins. The story was that a group of MTBers out night riding had got to one of the "easy" bits of the trail across a field so they all switched their lights off to save the batteries and went charging off across the field.
Next thing there was a loud thud and a startled MOOOO! as one of the guys rode straight into a sleeping cow. 😀

"We continue to monitor the situation at least once a week and any roaming animals will be impounded."

Clearly a high priority for the council then......

Incidentally I saw a stag yesterday by the side of the track I was on. It ran off before I could get a photo unfortunately.

Around here they don't dehorn:

Bushbabies in the trees are also good for eerie eye-shine.

Best "night eyes" experience I had was driving the fell road from Cockermouth to Calder Bridge. There were wild grazing ponies up there and coming round a blind bend at night to see lots of big, round green shining eyes at head height in the woods on the side of the road was a bit weird. For a fleeting moment I thought the aliens had landed 😉

It is, my mom however knits Alpaca wool jumpers/cardigans for a woman with an Alpaca farm down in Lynton, North Devon.

Just thought I'd share that with you all.... 😳
